I am shocked by all the bad reviews I've read! I've encountered numerous doctors in the many years I've been caring for my parents - I am used to delays, lack of follow up, poor communication.... Now it's me who has an issue, and I have been shocked by the care from Dr Castro, and even the RN, Rachel I think... and their staff. It did take a few months to get in, and I was coming to them out of ICU. Randomly in Hypoxic Respiratory Failure at 39, now on 5L of Oxygen. I did not ever get a call back/get through when calling.... However, I got my bronch scope scheduled, the breathing tests in office and results within two weeks of my visit. Unfortunately, I am a mystery case at the moment, and I truly thought I'd be forgotten - but she (not Castro - the gal PA/Nurse I think Rachel), followed

I wouldnt trust any provider here. They delay care and refuse to treat patients after advising the patient that they need a medication or equiptment. They double bill you for copays and they do not answer the phone. The office manager in chandler is rude and unprofessional and I wouldnt trust her to save a coackroaches life. Your health will be highly comparmised if you put your life and health in their hads. They discriminate if you dont have health insurance and will delay your care if they cant bill your health plan. The State Boards and Department of Health and JACHO and whoever is allowing them to be licensed needs to shut them down!!!Absolutely unsagfe medical practices. Poor standards of care! The back office is incompetent!!

I am submitting this complaint regarding Dr. Arturo Castro Jr. at East Valley Center for Pulmonary & Sleep Disorder due to unprofessional conduct, dissemination of false information, and what I believe to be retaliatory patient abandonment. My wife has stage four lung cancer. Over the past three months, she has been repeatedly hospitalized at Banner Hospital and Mercy Gilbert Hospital due to tumor progression in her lungs and recurrent pneumonia. During these hospitalizations, Dr. Castro was one of the physicians who evaluated her. One day prior to my wife’s discharge from the hospital, I spoke directly with Dr. Castro and requested that oxygen be arranged for her transportation home and continued home use. Dr. Castro stated that he would not order oxygen unless my wife came to his offic

I normally don’t like to do this, but I feel like this needs to be done. I have been diagnosed with asthma recently, and have been having trouble breathing. My pulmonologist gave me a prescription steroid about three months ago or so. It did help tremendously. She told me that the weather will be changing and that I might have trouble breathing again. She told me that when that happens to call their office for another prescription. I’ve been calling for about a week now. Literally called them over 20 times. I have left a voicemail, and the triage voicemail that has been set up in their office, does state that the lady that does the refills will call back within 24 hours. I have not heard anything from them. I did end up calling my VA office. My Dr from the VA told me that they haven’t sent

Office delays will risk your health. I have been seeing Dr Castro for almost 5 months. He was the attending while I was in the hospital with RSV so I began seeing him in follow up. I would give him 3 stars because of his slow pace but the 1 star is for the overall performance of the practice which will risk your health. Dr Castro said he would arrange outside tests, but it took the office staff over a week to contact the labs. The delay meant I couldn’t have the follow up office visit and had to extend the time for weeks. I left a message with the office that I had a return to the ER but didn’t hear back for almost a week to tell me the Dr was currently out of the office. I don’t know what the staff is doing but it is NOT timely patient care.

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders

What does East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders do?

East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders is a sleep medicine clinic in Chandler, AZ that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at East Valley Center for Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
