I only waited for this appointment for 2-3 months just to be rescheduled for another month of wait just to be called 1 hour before appt time to be told that doc is not available AGAIN and NO-ONE else can see me! AGAAAAIIINNN! Taking time off hiring babysitters doesn’t concern them. Too dissatisfied to reschedule again. This is not acceptable there should be staff to cover the Dr when he gets called into the hospital! There are doctors that can be hired for that! I haven’t seen Dr Bayasi and won’t. But I recommend he hires back up!

I had an appointment for 12:40 today, I arrived early to fill out paperwork I got that done, and then waited over an hour to be seen. The medical assistant I had was great, but that's all I can say that is positive about this practice. After I gave my history to the MA, told her everything, Dr. Bayasi walked in, talked about my sleep, said he will order a CT, and gave me a sample inhaler. I had to repeat everything, and he really seemed like I was bothering him. There's no compassion here, and absolutely zero bed side manner. I think if just going to bed earlier and waking up earlier was a magic cure, I'm pretty sure I could've figured that out myself by now. I'm seeing a different pulmonologist and won't be back at this office for my time to be wasted.

I couldn't ask for a better Pulmonologist than Dr. Rowland. She is caring, knowledgeable, professional, and dependable. The office staff is great, I highly recommend this office.

January 2026 Followup. I can't believe what a huge improvement I've experienced by using the CPAP machine ordered by Dr. Bayasi. My energy has increased with less sleepiness throughout the day. My mood has improved tremendously and my headaches are almost gone. I have to correct my previous critique of the office staff. A number of folks at the practice are amazing. A young lady named Brook took my phone call when I was really upset at having to wait for months to get my machine. After I told her of the delay, she immediately went to work and within a few days, I received my machine and equipment and all is well. Another employee whose name escapes me (the well-informed and experienced staff member who moved from Germany)... Sorry, I'm bad with names. She went out of her way to hel

I had an appt w/Dr. Virginia Rowland for the first time today after several years with another pulmonologist. She took time with me to answer all of my questions and explained everything I didn’t understand in layman’s terms. I sought her out because I needed second opinions on my lung conditions. She set my mind at ease on so many levels. She and the Staff at Gilbert Respiratory were so caring and kind, from Chad who took my vitals, to Brook who did my blood work! Dr. Rowland and her medical team exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier! I’m so grateful.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Gilbert Respiratory Associates

What does Gilbert Respiratory Associates do?

Gilbert Respiratory Associates is a sleep medicine clinic in Gilbert, AZ that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Gilbert Respiratory Associates?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Gilbert Respiratory Associates directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Gilbert Respiratory Associates?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Gilbert Respiratory Associates?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
