Excellent experience once again as I have had several sleep studies completed in my lifetime. The amenities at Pacific Sleep are outstanding and the staff practitioners wonderful. My nighttime Technician, Stephan, was a 10+ as he was very personable and made you feel at home. No one enjoys trying to sleep with attachments all over your body and a mask on your face. However, if you need a Sleep Study I could not recommend a better facility and staff than those at the Pacific Sleep Program. If you have Stephan as your sleep technician, you have scored a home run!

Stephan was the sleep technician for my sleep study last night, and I could not have asked for a more professional, compassionate, and caring individual. It’s one thing to be highly skilled at your job, but it’s another to consistently demonstrate the level of service, empathy, and commitment that Stephan provided throughout the entire experience. He made what could have been an uncomfortable and unfamiliar process feel easy and reassuring. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine concern for patient care were evident from start to finish. Stephan is an outstanding representative of your organization, and I am truly grateful for the exceptional care he provided.

I used PSP for a redo from a poor experience elsewhere. This time it wasn't perfect but that wasn't on PSP. Has some insurance junk but my night technician Stephan was fantastic. I felt very well represented by him while we worked through the mess with the Dr who was in Michigan at the time. We made lemonade outta lemons and I was incredibly grateful for how I was treated and the overall experience of my sleep study. Would certainly recommend PSP

My experience was wonderful. Though I was a little frustrated initially with how far out they were booking the studies, I was put on a cancelation list and it cut my wait time from two months to one. I really appreciated that part of their process. If you can be flexible when they call, it is a good play. The best part, and why I gave 5 stars was the incredible experience and care from Stephan. He made certain I was cared for at the highest level and was extremely informative of the entire process. Stephan, thank you for your service to your patients and especially your service to our country! The 5 stars was you. Jim

What an outstanding experience with Pacific Sleep Program. I have been seen by Dr. Radhika Breaden, MD, and by Stephen, Sleep Technologist. Dr. Breaden is a fantastic physician. She was thorough taking my history, evaluating my medical records, examining me, explaining sleep apnea and the possible outcomes one might experience when it is untreated and the improvements I could expect with treatment and the various treatments available. She explained the need for testing, in my case an "in office" sleep study, and why and how it would benefit me. She answered my questions and left open the opportunity for me to ask more questions. Stephan Hardy is the Night Technician who performed my study. One could not ask for anyone to be more professional. He took time to explain to me what would

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Pacific Sleep Program

What does Pacific Sleep Program do?

Pacific Sleep Program is a sleep medicine clinic in Portland, OR that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Pacific Sleep Program?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Pacific Sleep Program directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Pacific Sleep Program?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Pacific Sleep Program?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
