It seems like they are going through a transitional period right now, and I found communication and service to be inconsistent. Everyone I actually talked with was friendly, but I spoke with multiple different people (doctors, technicians, and receptionists) who didn't quite seem to be on the same page. Based on this, I don't feel super confident in any medical advice I received. Until they stabilize I would recommend maybe seeing if there are other clinics available.

This clinic is barely functional. You’ll wait months before your initial video call. Ok, not out the ordinary for a specialty. You’ll then be mailed an at home sleep device and have another video call with a different provider (all PAs, don’t expect an actual doctor). I finally got to go inside the clinic to pick up a device and met with a scatterbrained RT who was badmouthing the clinic as she hastily set me up with equipment. Then you are expected to use only the online portal to fine tune your settings and equipment (there is a huge learning curve) and get this - they don’t actually respond to the portal. They also don’t answer the phone in person, so you never can speak to a human being until it’s time for billing to call, and then they ring the phone off the hook. But can’t answer any

I have had a horrendous time cancelling my account with Oregon Sleep Associates. It has been going on since October of last year, and I continue to get billed for a Cpap that I have returned. The front office receptionist thought she was being helpful, and transferred me to Billing...the woman in billing was very unpleasant...and really needs some Customer Service Training...she told me she couldn't help me, and that I would need to speak with a technician. A very poor customer experience for sure! As of this moment, I've left a message for someone I have no confidence will return my call.

Kate was a great provider, but left the practice last year. I've been shuffled between providers since, and they all barely pay attention to me or help with anything. I've left for another clinic. Would not recommend this one, which seems to only want to sell CPAP and not help support you with it or consider any other options. They didn’t even interpret my recent sleep study correctly.

I came to OSA from a different provider because of how bad my supply ordering experience was. OSA was phenomenal in 2023. Now, it's an absolute pain in the butt to work with. Even though their call center calls during business hours to get you to re-order supplies, when you call back on your break, you cannot get a hold of anyone. Their internal communication must be broken down because I've had an order denied, but never told about it. I only found out when I called back because my order never showed up. They do not provide order confirmation or tracking. And why is my re-order being denied when it is a standard re-order? Additionally, it was a challenge to make an appointment to look at a different mask set-up. Once I finally got in, I felt extremely rushed. They were short-staffed and

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Oregon Sleep Associates

What does Oregon Sleep Associates do?

Oregon Sleep Associates is a sleep medicine clinic in Portland, OR that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Oregon Sleep Associates?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Oregon Sleep Associates directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Oregon Sleep Associates?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Oregon Sleep Associates?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
