Worst experience ever. I had to get a sleep study done to get an important surgery, took THREE months to even get it done and when I finally did I still have yet to get results and it’s been 2 weeks and I have been calling every day for a week and NO ANSWER! The only thing I will say was the older lady who works there night of sleep study she was sweet. Other than that I don’t recommend here at all!

I highly recommend that you find a different sleep doctor. Vivek cancelled a lot of appointments with me this year. I would recommend that you not waste your time. At the last cancellation on 6/17 the person who I spoke with said he hasn't any patients for over a month

I made an appointment months in advance, but it was canceled the day of - not once, not twice, but three times. After the third cancellation, I was told the next available appointment wasn't for another five months. If the doctor is having such serious health issues that appointments cannot be kept, that should be a sign it may be time to retire or bring in additional help. Because of these cancellations, I missed the opportunity to schedule with another provider, which potentially put my health at risk. After looking through other reviews, it appears this is a fairly common issue at this office. It's disappointing to see patients being strung along like this. Sleep apnea is a serious condition- my own cousin suffered a heart attack after not realizing she had it. Situations like this make

Made the mistake of booking an appointment with this place almost five months ago, only for them to cancel on me an hour before the appointment. Other sleep study places aren’t booking out until December now, so I’m just utterly miserable and worried about my health, given that I have sleep apnea and have upcoming heart surgery. I generally don’t think this doctor should be practicing, since he keeps wasting everyone’s time like this and putting their health in jeopardy. Insanely unprofessional behavior.

I had my first sleep eval done in AUG 2020, at Somnique. Diagnosed with severe apnea. I have been going here ever since and I can say that my experiences were great with friendly staff and practioners. They are very efficient and helpful. I would recommend Somnique to anyone who has symptoms of sleep apnea.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Somnique Health PC

What does Somnique Health PC do?

Somnique Health PC is a sleep medicine clinic in Portland, OR that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Somnique Health PC?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Somnique Health PC directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Somnique Health PC?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Somnique Health PC?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
