For the staff that checks patients in for surgery, absolute complete failure!! We were yelled at to come in by Roxanne last Monday and my 84 yr old mother made her way over. No greeting. No how are you today, or friendly welcoming attitude. Not even a hello. Roxanne clearly didn't want to be there as she barked at my mother "Date of Birth!?". No invitation to sit down, etc. A paper was tossed to her to confirm she wasn't blind or deaf, not explained to my mother. Then curt demands to sign this, sign that with brief explanation. Not one word of her surgery that morning, even a fake 'we know you will do great here' would be nice. The only emotion was " you owe us $300.00". A bill that had not yet been sent out! What policy has a woman responsible for checking in surgery patients also bullyin

Nurse Julia is probably one of the most inviting and positively intelligent triage nurses I’ve ever had the pleasure of being taken care of by. Nurse Carly was such a sweetheart being there for me in my hours of despair. I was seen immediately and given a room. I had complications from a prior surgery and without hesitation they put me in a gown and had me out in no time. New to Oregon and thankful for everyone here.

I had to go in today for a D&C after a pregnancy loss and I had the sweetest staff. My RN, Andy, was especially really sweet. I was really anxious going in and told him I was getting the procedure because of a loss and he talked the whole time and made me laugh so much that I didn’t feel nervous anymore. I wish I could have him for any procedure to walk me through things. I’m thankful for him and the other staff/surgical team members I had

Nurses were excellent, Dr's were not...at least the couple minutes I saw him over 3 days. Maybe 15 minutes top. Mr. Rahavi was very arrogant and ignorant. Would not listen to other Dr's from bay area hospital and dismissed everything he was told. The 1 star is only for the doc, not the nurses or staff

Had the flu, went in with a terrible cough, immense amount of pressure in my ears and a migrane that was awful. They didnt do anything but swab my nose.....no xray to make sure i didnt habe any respiratory issues which im prone to. Didnt check my ears for an ear infection. And the nurse clearly hated her job and was just rude. The care you get here is lackluster at best anymore. edit: Day shift treated me far better, gave me steroids for my lungs and some meds from pharmacy to hopefully reduce the irritation from my lungs. Thanks.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center

What does Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center do?

Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Coos Bay, OR that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Bay Area Hospital Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
