I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Pribyl and his staff! From day 1 I have felt seen and heard as we have worked together to find the best plan for me. Although it is pricey due to not taking insurance, getting treatment here has changed my life! I developed TMJ during the Pandemic and wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to continue teaching vocal music … or even to smile without hurting. I can say with assurance that this was one of the best decisions I have made!

I’m grateful to have found Dr. Pribyl and this dental office during the time my work had me living in Kansas City. I have bounced around many Tmj dentists and doctors as I moved around the country, and I can confidently say this practice is at forefront of dental technology for diagnosing and treating TMJ and sleep apnea. If you are struggling with either of those problems, do yourself a favor and at least get evaluated by Dr. Pribyl. The services aren’t cheap but I feel they are reasonable for getting top quality care. Thank you to everyone on the team for helping me get on a path to finally solving my jaw and bite problems!

I'd spent years of bouncing between audiologists, ENT's and neurologists trying to find relief from sever ear pain, chronic headaches and debilitating migraines. TMJ was never a thought as I had nearly none of the typical jaw complaints associated with it. Then it was noticed on an MRI the cartlidge in my jaw was thinning. I scheduled an appointment at Dr Pribyl's and it was determined that I had a great case of severe bad luck related to my joints and a super lazy tongue. These led me down two paths of OMT for my tongue, and TMD treatment. OMT with Natalie was very helpful and informative. I had never known your tongue should act and rest in a certain way and when it doesn't the impacts it can have. Natalie made all of the exercises easy to follow and understand. Office visits were a tre

For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea
What does Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea do?
Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea is a sleep medicine clinic in Lee's Summit, MO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
