If I could leave zero stars I would!!! My sister was a long time patient in this office. She had COPD from smoking. She went to this office for MANY years. They were aware she was. A former smoker and NEVER once did they send her for a Lung Screening. 3 years ago she couldn’t breath and had to go to the hospital. That’s when they discovered she had 3 tumors on her brain. They did a PET scan and discovered she had lung cancer and it had metastasized to her liver and her brain. Her oncologist said she had to have had the lung cancer for a VERY long time in order for it to have spread as bad as it did. When her cancer was finally caught she was given 6 to 8 weeks to live. I blame the pulmonologist department for her death!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place needs to hire more intelligent people. I had waited three months to get in and ended up having to reschedule. Ask them if they can just call somebody and switch days. They said they were not able to do that. I would have to get put back to the bottom of the pile and be another three months. If they unable to do a simple task like that, I sure would not want them doing any medical stuff on me. These schedulers are so lazy God forbid they do their job.

This place doesn't communicate or do as they say. Met with Dr in July was told we are going to do a CT scan and getting meds to stop smoking. I never received a script for those med and when I showed up for my scan it it wasn't a CT scan it was a lung function test. I called asking no one knew. I refused the test. A few days later after leaving tons of messages I received a call back. They wanted to schedule my CT scan. Scheduled and went to the CT scan over 2 weeks later and still havent heard a word. Today is oct 9th. They say tell you how your health is so important but then they do this. If you can GO SOME PLACE ELSE!!!!

They need to communicate what you need to bring to the appointment when you make the appointment. Not by a text!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic

What does CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic do?

CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic is a sleep medicine clinic in Springfield, MO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at CoxHealth Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Clinic?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
