The surgeon that we had was amazing but the doctors have been less than subpar. The nurses and doctors are patronizing. I had a doctor talk to my teenage daughter about going boo boo and pee pee. Clearly a preteen or a teen would not respond to those words well. My child was strapped to a board at age 4. Doctors were coming in with radioactive suits to perform a reflux test. She was absolutely terrified. She was not sedated. Of course the test came back negative. This is a money making business. Our surgeon was incredible so I am giving one star. Their computer system is awful, their phone directory is a mess, and I have met adults who have been traumatized from this hospital. The nurses have been absolutely awful. Of course this is one of the only places in Kansas City that treats complex

My toddler fell from a bounce house and broke his elbow, my child never- never had an accident so as a mom I was living a nightmare!! we are so lucky to have an amazing service as children mercy hospital, they were so professional, patience and the language wasn’t a problem at all for other patients that don’t speak any English, EVERYONE, the staff, security, nurses and doctors gave us the best and fast attention for my child to have his surgery, they made us feel comfortable and safe, they check the whole time if us as parents or my child as patient need anything, if I could, I would leave 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you children mercy for everything you do

We had nothing but positive experiences with every person we encountered at this wonderful hospital, from the volunteers to the nurses to the doctors. My four year old needed a surgical procedure which naturally gave us a lot of anxiety, but everyone there put us at ease. There were a few people who stood out in particular during our two visits- the older gentleman (volunteer) who walked us to our surgical consultation was one of the kindest most joyful people I've ever met, he made us feel like we were going on a magical tour. The nurse who took my son in to surgery and the one who brought him back to us were incredibly comforting, they gave him a teddy bear and made sure he had a show he liked to watch when he woke up. The anesthesiologist was SO sweet. And Dr. Abdessalam was incredible

My son had same day surgery and the staff, childlife care, surgical team, and post op were absolutely wonderful! I am so grateful for how they made my son feel safe and prepared for a scary procedure. Afterwards, the staff were so kind and doting on him that it wasn’t scary to wake up from anesthesia. With how big the place was, the check in staff helped us locate where we needed to go by actually taking us there and talked to us with such kindness. We aren’t from KC but they made sure we were ok every step of the way. Thank you CMH!!

Only come here for the emergency room. Staff and care was great. They have the MOST predatory billing department I've ever seen. Luckily for me, I'm an insurance billing coordinator and I know how to read invoices and tell when things are wrong. A claim for my daughter didn't process due to a coordination of benefits update being needed. Instead of calling me to inform me of this, they just sent me a bill for 3K. Seeing the bill I could tell the claim didn't process and called to ask why, and was told. Did you know a coordination of benefits update is a very simple phone call? I cannot imagine the amount of poor unsuspecting parents that have just paid these bills because they think they owe them because your billing department is LAZY and mediocre. An absolute shame. Always check yo

For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus

What does Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus do?

Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus is a sleep medicine clinic in Kansas City, MO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Children's Mercy Kansas City Adele Hall Campus?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
