I had an excellent experience at the sleep clinic. The physician spent an entire hour with me, listened carefully to my concerns, reviewed my history thoroughly, and explained everything in a very compassionate and professional way. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly heard and taken seriously. She ordered appropriate testing, discussed treatment options in detail, and gave practical recommendations to help improve my sleep and restless legs symptoms. I am very grateful for the care and attention I received and highly recommend this clinic. I gave 4 stars because they never answer the phone and if you leave a message you may not get any call back. I need a refill because I ran out of my pills. I called twice and nobody called me back

My mom was seen at this clinic for a sleep study. The office was supposed to work on getting my mom started on treatment. We contacted the office multiple times in attempt to receive an update. Long story short, the office never reached out to update us on the “issues” they were having with insurance. I don’t believe that they truly made an effort to get my mom’s sleep machine. No patient advocacy on their end.

I had an appointment today with Rosemary Gomes and it did not go well. She asked how my headaches have been so I informed her that I figured out that a medication prescribed by another doctor was exacerbating my headaches and that I had stopped taking it. She then got a very rude tone with me and said she didn’t know about it and that I would have to take it up with the doctor that prescribed it. I told her that I had stopped taking it but I thought it would be pertinent information for her and she rudely said I DONT KNOW ABOUT THAT TALK TO THE DOCTOR THAT PRESCRIBED IT! And I finally got upset and said isn’t this important information for you to know? And she told me to not raise my voice then hung up on me. Unbelievable that I’m in extreme pain every day and I come to them for help and

I went in for an appointment.. was told they had to contact another doctor of mine to see if she would recommend the medication they wanted to try me on - mind you I've already tried this medication without any luck. I got a call back several hours saying - no don't take it the next direction was to do nothing until my next appointment.... 6 weeks from the one today. what is the point of making appointment after appointment if there are no options being discussed. Maybe the actual doctors are better.. but the PA was stumped on how to help me. I have made an appointment at another business.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine
What does Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine do?
Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Germantown, MD that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Capital Neurology & Sleep Medicine?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
