**update from last night 5/3/26 We had my son’s sleep study last night, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived and immediately felt comfortable and at home. The staff explained everything thoroughly, answered all of our questions, and made sure both my son and I felt at ease throughout the process. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and quiet, which made the overnight stay much easier. We truly appreciated the kindness and professionalism of everyone there. Highly recommend to any family needing a sleep study for their child. I’m extremely impressed with this sleep medicine provider. We had a consult for my son on Tuesday, and the front office team was welcoming, organized, and very professional. The

I have had severe sleep apnea and used a CPAP for 20 years, undergoing numerous sleep studies nationwide. This facility is, by far, the absolute worst I have ever visited. The environment was incredibly loud and hot. My bed shared a wall with the next room's toilet, which sounded like a jet engine every time it flushed. When I asked for earplugs (which their own signage says are available), the technician completely ignored me. The technician's bedside manner was awful—he didn't listen to my questions, rudely forced me to use the restroom when I didn't need to, and dismissively blamed my terrible night of sleep on my "sleeping position." Furthermore, they refuse to provide basic medical accommodations. I have arthritis and asked to fill out their mountain of redundant paperwork online

This place is one of the most poorly run medical offices I've ever run into. It's been 7months and I'm still waiting to receive a Cpap. They are quick to call about billing, but nothing more! When you ask for updates, they'll hit you with, "too much time has elapsed and you need another doc visit". Meanwhile, you've been waiting on them to contact you for updates. I'm not sure what is wrong, but it's not good. They need to treat patients as if they are more important!

DO NOT BOOK American Sleep Center in Rockville — they should not be allowed to practice. They are clearly understaffed and beyond capacity. The facilities are so dated, technology seemingly barely operational, the tech woke my child at least 12 times throughout the night because sensors moved. The entire process was an extraordinary waste of money and time AND we never got the study results. When we finally heard from our ordering doctor the results seemed completely unreliable given our experience. We’ve already paid over $550 out of pocket and they keep sending a subsequent bill. I’ve called the office three times asking for a billing person to call me back. I’m not paying another dollar until someone can actually explain how we still owe them money for the horrible service provided. Do

They call and leave a message. They are responsive via email for sleep results. They check with insurance and explain the coinsurance before arriving. I completed the in-lab overnight clinic sleep study and had a positive experience with the process, the technician and the payments.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about American Sleep Medicine - Rockville
What does American Sleep Medicine - Rockville do?
American Sleep Medicine - Rockville is a sleep medicine clinic in Rockville, MD that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at American Sleep Medicine - Rockville?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact American Sleep Medicine - Rockville directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at American Sleep Medicine - Rockville?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at American Sleep Medicine - Rockville?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
