Easy to do and instructions were easy to understand, but the ring died in the middle of the night so only 1.5 nights were recorded instead of 2. The ring charges with micro USBc which isn’t something most people have on hand, and they don’t provide a charger. Furthermore, if the ring randomly disconnects from your phone in the middle of the night you’ll have no way of knowing or rectifying it because you’re asleep.

Blackstone Medical Services has provided one of the most frustrating and unprofessional customer service experiences I have ever encountered. I contacted the company seeking a simple explanation regarding a $250 charge for an at-home sleep study prescribed by my physician as a medically necessary diagnostic test for sleep apnea. What should have been a straightforward conversation turned into days of phone calls, countless transfers, conflicting information, and complete incompetence. I spoke with multiple representatives, none of whom could clearly explain why I was being charged. I was repeatedly told that the test was considered "experimental" and that my insurance had denied coverage. However, when I brought my insurance company onto the call directly, Blackstone Medical Services con

Very poor customer service. They are very good at selling you a device and collecting their money but to get someone on the phone for assistance is non existent. They have the worst customer service of any company that I have delta with. I highly recommend staying away from this company I less you like being a person alone on the island.

This business is shady and it’s clear the doctor’s offices that recommend them get a kick back. First, they pretty much harassed me every day, multiple times a day to start the process. Once I called they told me it would cost $260 to get the sleep study ring and if I paid it all now, I’d get a discount because I was a patient from Tampa Lung Specialists. They also told me I could pay in installments but would only get the ring if I paid 80% which is fine. When I asked if that was the cost with my insurance there was shift in the conversation. He said “you have Florida blue, right?” Which I said yes then tells me that it’s going to be $175. When I went to move forward at that price, he said he couldn’t move forward because they didn’t have all of my information. Which is funny because how

Worst customer service ever. The first kit did not work properly, so I sent it back. It was received by Blackstone in Tampa on 5/7, and I’m still waiting for my replacement. Every single time I call, I’m stuck on hold forever. Today, after 26 minutes waiting, the recording came back saying nobody was available and to leave a message. This is now the third time this has happened. My doctor has advised this is not the first complaint so will never do business with this company again. Save yourself the headache and ask your doctor to use a different medical company.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Blackstone Medical Services
What does Blackstone Medical Services do?
Blackstone Medical Services is a sleep medicine clinic in Tampa, FL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Blackstone Medical Services?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Blackstone Medical Services directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Blackstone Medical Services?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Blackstone Medical Services?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
