Facility: The rooms are large, but the walls are -super- thin. You can hear everyone and everything including the laundry machine they ran at 4am. Staff: Office staff will answer your basic questions, but if they need to call you back for anything, don't except one. Sleep study staff also varies. Some have been on autopilot/bored and some were actually good. Honestly this shouldn't be hit or miss. Equipment: I was told my unit was "on the way" but it took over a month to arrive. Not sure where it was coming from that would take 30+ days. My insurance would only cover this place. Long story short, if you have a choice, I would suggest going elsewhere for your sleep study.

I had a very disappointing experience at this sleep disorder center. When I arrived, I received no instructions about the process. The staff simply connected all the monitoring equipment and left the room without explaining what to expect during the study. The environment itself was completely unsuitable for a sleep study. The walls seemed paper-thin, and nurses frequently spoke to patients in other rooms over a loudspeaker, repeatedly waking me up. On top of that, staff members were talking and laughing loudly in the hallway throughout the night, showing little consideration for patients who were there specifically because they struggle with sleep. After being unable to get any meaningful sleep due to the constant noise, I asked if I could leave early. I was told that if I left before t

I had a really wonderful experience at the facility. My tech, Taylor, was delightful and made me feel at ease. The facility was warm and inviting and the beds and bedding were comfortable. I have three children whom all had sleep studies, so I am very familiar with sleep studies. I have had numerous friends tell me stories of seriously less than pleasant experiences at other facilities. My experience with Space Coast Sleep Disorders was exceptionally positive and I will refer anyone I know who needs an in person study to the facility.

I had a great experience at Space Coast Sleep Disorder Center in Melbourne. The facility was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was professional, kind, and welcoming. Everything was explained clearly, appointments were well organized, and I felt truly cared for throughout the entire process. You can tell they genuinely prioritize patient comfort and quality care. I would highly recommend Space Coast Sleep Disorder Center to anyone needing sleep services.

The rooms have thin walls and I could hear everything going on in rooms next to my own, even whispers. They need to put up something, anything to dampen the sound. It's already hard enough to try to fall asleep within 20 wires strapped on. Bathroom was clean but toilet was not bolted down well and it rocked back and forth...which is a bit of a shock when it's 2:30 AM and you sit on it. I thought the staff was nice but they seemed stressed and it felt like they were rushing. I didn't think it was their fault and I believe they were trying hard. When I requested a copy of my own medical records two separate times they refused. The explanation I was given was that doctors have yelled at them in the past so now they don't give patients their own medical information as a policy for their comp

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center

What does Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center do?

Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Melbourne, FL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Space Coast Sleep Disorders Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
