This place is a joke!!! I went there last year for the first time. On my way there they cancelled my appointment. I called to see if I could have the dr set up my supplies again and I knew I needed an appointment. So I mentioned I still was having 37 to 47 events a night still, so they set me up with another sleep study. That went very badly, #1 the bed was sagging in the middle,#2 the pillow stunk ,#3 the sleep study operator walked into the room to wrap something around my head and jaw to close my mouth. He never announced that he was coming in the room either, he just started wrapping something around my head!.#5 my left eye started killing me. He gave me some wet paper towel to put over my eye. I had to leave because my eye was hurting so bad. I had to drive another 30 miles back ho

This was by far the most frustrating appointment of my life. After waiting for over an hour, I finally met the doctor, only to be told that he refuses to treat me based on my medical history and treatment of chronic pain. He is certainly within his rights to refuse me as a patient; however, Dr MacDonald's lack of tact and horrible bedside manner/communication skills with his explanation prompted me to write my first ever review. I left the office in tears, as I have never met a doctor that had absolutely no desire to help or offer practical solutions to a patient. Very disappointed.

I can just say this if you take any kind of anxiety medication Mr. MacDonald will just tell you it's because of that. I shouldn't even of said anything. And I have been tired and sleepy since I was 13 years old. Did not go on anxiety meds until I was older. Thanks for your help! The review below me about how he treats people is absolutely true. Do not waste your time or money here. If you have certain problems he will caulk it up to that and don't care to find out

I'm not convinced this is an actual doctor's office. I think it is a sales operation setup by pharma industry to push CPAP machines... 3 minute zoom consultation, overnight sleep study (which you never actually see any results for), guaranteed to have sleep apnea, then shuffled off to some other company that handles the CPAP machine. Since the initial consultation, cannot get anyone to call me back from the office. Pretty sure they're operating under the principle "if you have insurance, you also have sleep apnea"

Very difficult to see what businesses are in the building as they are not all on the sign out front or on a sign in their lot or on the building, you go in side and can see whos there. I wasn't sure if I was at the correct place until walking in the building. Other than that just a bunch of office suites.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders
What does The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders do?
The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders is a sleep medicine clinic in Novi, MI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at The Center for Respiratory and Sleep Disorders?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
