I would go literally anywhere else unless this is your LAST option. Definitely do not go here for anything small, I promise you cannot afford it. If you do not have insurance, PLEASE ask what you will be charged before the services are performed and I PROMISE you will decline. I learned the hard way. My first time hunting in the UP, and I had an issue with my ears being clogged, that happens to me once a year roughly. Normally when I have this done at my local urgent care downstate, it is $50 without insurance. THIS PLACE WANTED OVER $800!!!!! I was seriously blown away when I recieved the bill, because this is a service I've regularly recieved and I know how much it costs without insurance. The worst part? When I was seen, I had a (seemingly inexperienced) young lady dig around in my ea

From Battle Creek. Treated on 10/6 and 10/10, for a deep back abscess. I am a retired nurse. I found their care to be very thorough, professional and caring. Great to know a small Upper Michigan community has such a great place for Health Care.

Excellent care givers in rhe ER. Nurse Connie C. and x-ray tech Greg both were very thorough, caring and pleasant, making sure they asked all the right questions and provided a very calming experience. Dr. Alterie was also very thorough on his examination and subsequent discussion of his findings. There is no doubt that all the staff we.came in contact with were very professional and caring in regards to their patient's needs.

Had an infected cyst on abdomen. Was being treated with antibiotics , but it got HUGE! went to ER Friday after thanksgiving last year (better late than never review). Was treated by Dr. Cutlip. The entire staff, nurses, doctor, were terrific. My only concern is the lack of privacy in the ER, there are only curtains separating the patients from one another and you can hear everything. otherwise, top notch little ER

Helen Joy Newberry hospital. I had an issue with a billing statement. Tried calling helpline with some results. Walked into the hospital the other day. Was able to actually “sit down” and talk with a very nice professional young lady, Lorna. With in a matter of minutes my billing statement was explained to me, payment made and I was completely satisfied! The hospital staff has always been excellent and now so my experience with the administrative side! Just experienced a stroke and the triage unit was terrific! Professional and so caring! Thank you to the wonderful staff! HNJ has been wonderful when dressing my needs! Thank you and God bless!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center
What does Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center do?
Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Newberry, MI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
