I’ve been seeing Dr. Tuton for a while now, and I have nothing but good things to say about her care. She is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely seems to care about patients’ well-being. I always feel heard and respected during appointments, and the medical advice has been consistently helpful. Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff has not been nearly as positive. Similar to a previous review, they often come across as rude and unprofessional. However, I’ve noticed a stark contrast when it comes to billing—when it’s time to pay, the staff suddenly becomes friendly and helpful. It gives the impression that customer service only matters if money is involved. It’s disappointing because the doctor’s excellent care is somewhat overshadowed by the poor front office experience.

I have been a patient of Dr Tuton for over a year. Her care has been life changing for me. I’m feeling better than I have in well over 10 years! She actually listens and took a collaborative approach with getting me healthy again.

I have been a patient here for several years. Jackie is so kind and understanding. She is very knowledgeable and has made a huge difference for me!! She takes her time and is genuinely concerned about your wellbeing! Her staff is equally amazing! Rosey, Maritza, Pat and Trish are very personable and friendly, I always feel welcomed and they always do what they can to accommodate me! Monique goes out of her way to get insurance issues resolved, going so far as to work on things after the office is closed! This office is a great team of healthcare professionals! They need more than 5 stars!!

We have not received results yet but I can speak on the awful experience I had checking in with my son. We were sent here on referral from my 16 year old’s primary doctor. When we went for the consult it was fine. They did tell me they would have something for me to sleep on or I could sleep with him (which I said absolutely not because my son is 6ft and has SLEEPING ISSUES so I wasn’t going to sleep with him. They said they would see what they could do and would try to call me on days where there were extra beds. Fast forward to a month later and I got a confirmation call the day before. I asked if there would be a bed for me and they said no. There would be a recliner couch for me though..so fine whatever I wasn’t going to reschedule this appointment. So we go to check in the next night.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Lab of Las Cruces

What does Sleep Lab of Las Cruces do?

Sleep Lab of Las Cruces is a sleep medicine clinic in LAS CRUCES, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Lab of Las Cruces?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Lab of Las Cruces directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Lab of Las Cruces?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Lab of Las Cruces?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
