Not sure about all these negative reviews here. I had an excellent experience at this clinic. The technician who worked with me was competent, smart, empathetic and did everything to make things go as well as can be expected. You are wired up from head to toes, that is part of the study. Does that induce sleepiness: no it does not. Is that the fault of the folks who work there and give their all to make you feel comfortable: no, it isn’t. I was there when they had a full house. But after 10 pm it was absolutely quiet. I ended up sleeping 4.5 solid hours which was way more than an insomniac like myself could hope for, being all wired up etc. Don’t let bad reviews from professional naysayers mislead you. This is a good place to have your sleep study done.

Lol. Per my doctor's referral, the Sleep Center handed me a home sleep study kit that was either faulty or they gave me wrong instructions - and then didn't bother to respond to my voice message or text about it. They told me not to touch any buttons on the device and then complained when it didn't record any data. Well, duh. Maybe somebody should have pressed Start and Stop, or, if that was unnecessary, given me something that actually worked. Anyway, I don't have a car and my health conditions render me too woozy to drive anyway - hence the requested sleep study. I have no intention of scheduling more rides to pick up and drop off their sleep recorders in person to make up for faulty instruments or mistaken advice. They can mail me one with correct instructions and a properly stamped s

When I saw that someone else left a negative review of Christus St Vincent Sleep Center, I wondered why I hadn't done so. My bad experience in November 2022 ran the gamut of delayed and disorganized communications from the Sleep Center itself, coordination of requirements for the sleep study with my doctor, and finally, the terrible experience itself. I tried to contact an ombudsman or patient advocate at Christus, but they apparently don't have one, or at least it wasn't apparent to me online. During the study itself, I was subjected to political rantings by my sleep technician as she was hooking me up to all of the sensors. I was so disquieted by her that I had a hard time falling asleep. I was told by my technician at the beginning that I could have my designated driver pick me up

Room assignments need to be strategic with early check ins as far away from the snack station as possible. My check in was at 7:15 thus after prepping with the tech, I was ready to sleep at 8:30 which is very close to my regular bedtime. I was sleepy and ready to begin HOWEVER, my room was located right across the snack station so there was chit chat and activity right outside my door. This was similar to a hotel room right next to the elevator. When I rang the technician, he said things would quiet down at 10:00-10:30 because they had a full house. He supplied ear plugs but they did not shield the chatter. In the end, I only got two good hours of sleep. At 3:30, the technician advised that I was free to leave as I had been awake for several hours and advised that I would not be using

1. They had scented sheets on bed - I am very allergic to that. Had a severe reaction. I called and left a message and asked for a return call. NEVER HAPPENED. 2. My husband ordered a sleep study - it took 6 months for the appt and three hours before going in he gets a call and they say insurance won’t cover it. This was absolutely not true. It was covered and in six months they waited to confirm a week before? It was covered - it was ordered by hospital and doctor. Are you kidding? How about you screwed up the scheduling! They said oh! You didn’t get our e mails? NO- you probably never sent them. When and where were they sent and by whom? They had no clue. This is the WORST managed place I have ever seen. Not many choices in SF but come on. Do SOMETHING correctly! I don’t

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center

What does Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center do?

Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Santa Fe, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Christus St. Vincent Regional Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
