Their sleep study used faulty equipment (leaky mask throughout the entire in-person measurement study due to severely degraded seal) and they did not acknowledge this, leading to an extreme initial setting for my machine where I could not exhale for several nights, leaving me awake in bed until early morning with the mask on my face to meet the 4h insurance requirement before I could rip it off and become able to breathe. I tried to call their office which went to voicemail every time, requiring me to go into the office physically to be able to request an adjustment (which had to be done through a scheduled phone call with one of the doctors), which actually seemed to fix the functionality of the machine - I was actually able to sleep through nights after this. The technician onsite was d

Rescheduling follow up appointments is nearly impossible. I was supposed to have a post-sleep study consultation. They called the day of the original appointment to cancel because the doctor had an emergency. It has been 3 weeks, and I have been actively trying to reschedule to no avail. Calling during the business hours always ends up in voice mail, and no one ever calls you back. They do not hesitate to send repeated messages for bill payment without actually providing the required services end to end. Update: I sent a text message to the billing department about my complaint. The billing department has much better response and resolution. They scheduled a followup within hours and to a close enough date.

At home study costs $600 and insurance only paid $70. Just some basic monitoring devices worn for one night. This whole thing is a scam.

I have used CPAP for many years. and the only reason I need a doctor is to sign my insurance claim forms and prescriptions. The doctor, while I waited to see him, eloquently told a new patient the same story I heard many times before. I wonder, how can they survive in ChatGPT era? Oh yes, they are protected by law. The doctor is not much use, we need is a capable technician tell us how to handle the machine. with ChatGPT, I don’t even need that. Sleep medicine should NOT be a specialty, as the doctors just becoming expensive sales persons. Let the family doctors provide prescription after initial sleep study!!! Yes, about this clinic. I did receive a bill for “remote monitoring fee”, wow, so advanced!!! I didn’t pay it though, I didn’t agree, and never receive such service before this

This clinic is terrible and I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. It’s taken 3 months and ill they do is delay, and bill insurance. I’ll be reporting them to my insurance company because it’s a scam. If you have sleep apnea, go somewhere else if you need relief

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Health MD
What does Sleep Health MD do?
Sleep Health MD is a sleep medicine clinic in Sunnyvale, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Health MD?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Health MD directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Health MD?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Health MD?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
