Terrible office staff. The office manager (which I sadly believe she is because the office seems poorly run), said she spent 2hrs on the phone with my insurance and wouldn’t spend any more. She couldn't confirm if she was in/out of network but presumed they were out of network. The office set an appointment up for a Monday, then called (on said Monday) to say lets switch to Wednesday for insurance purposes. Ok. I arrive at the appointment time for them to say they spent the 2hrs and wouldn't spend any more. I explained how my insurance works, she stated she did not have a referral, something they stated multiple times over the phone and i provided it multiple times, including the first time I used the portal. Do not recommend. Not worth the multiple phone calls and poor staff.

Down the hall, pass the elevator and then turn to the right passed the stairs. You can't miss it! The staff cecily or cely sorry i forgot her name but she was so nice n sweet. She made me feel at ease n explained the entire process. Honestly she deserves a raise! she hooked me up with all the leads n took me to my room. The rooms although small it was actually pretty nice! Almost like a mini hotel! i did bring my own pillow, but after 2 hours i just used the ones provided n it was comfy. Bed was standard meduim firmness, not hard not soft just good. I could not get an appt in the Long Beach office. This office has staff that actually answer the phone, which is a rarity these days. Not only that, they are extremely helpful. We had issues getting the CPAP and I called several times and Cecily was beyond patient and accommodating. Dr Feldman is also amazing. He explained things well to my son and talked about lifestyle changes to help him. I cannot recommend them enough.

Brought my 5 y/o for an overnight sleep study. Calling in was quick and easy to schedule. Staff at the overnight were incredibly professional. Facility was clean, quiet and comfortable all things considered. Good a/c is needed so temperature doesn't impact sleep results. We also had a sound machine that helped with background noise. We felt very taken care of. Other reviews seem to think this is supposed to be a Hilton, but for a medical procedure the beds were fine, the blankets are easy to wash for the clinic (hotels don't have to wash comforters...so yeah these blankets actually mean they are washed in between use).

I just had my overnight sleep study and was nervous given some of the previous reviews. I had an appointment previously with Dr. Lebby and He and his staff are super kind and informative. Based off previous reviews I brought 2 extra blankets and my own pillow and I was extremely comfortable. I did wear a sweatshirt as well, it was a bit chilly but I prefer a cooler environment anyway. The bed was firm, but not rock hard, and again I prefer this, so I was comfortable. They had a sound machine that is optional, but I think it helped since others were having studies and there were other technicians outside. To be honest the pillows they provided sucked, so I'm super happy I brought my own. My technician was so sweet and amazing. I felt super comfortable, safe, and respected. She was super nu

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Ocean Sleep Medicine

What does Ocean Sleep Medicine do?

Ocean Sleep Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Irvine, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Ocean Sleep Medicine?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Ocean Sleep Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Ocean Sleep Medicine?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Ocean Sleep Medicine?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
