My experience during my sleep study, with Maria the over night nurse. wasn’t as I expected because of the nurse assigned to me. She came across as unfriendly, and unapproachable from the moment I arrived. She barely communicated with me, she didnt show me how or where to turn the tv on. didn’t make any effort to help me feel comfortable, and her attitude made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than a patient. Got one worded answers For a sleep study, the staff’s demeanor matters. Patients are expected to relax enough to fall asleep while connected to monitoring equipment, and that becomes much more difficult when the person caring for you creates an uncomfortable environment. Instead of feeling at ease, I felt anxious and uncomfortable throughout the night. I hope the office recog

The staff was professional and I didn't have a long wait. Even though there were other patients before my scheduled appointment the wait was short. The waiting area is always clean. I appreciate Pacific Sleep Disorder Center.

I wish all Dr”s offices were this incredible and efficient ! Sleep Apnea is a scary thing but being a patient here makes it a lot more comforting. Everyone here is so caring and educated. When I had to first come for the test was a lil nervous what to expect but all the staff that evening were so helpful . Made sure ,not on myself but others also, were comfortable and answered ALL of questions and concerns. The Doctor was so informative in explaining everything in detail where I understood and was comfortable with everything. NO RUSHING the appointment either!!VERY CARING!!! I am very grateful to have an office like you taking great care of me!! Time for my machine.. hehehe

I’m grateful for the quality care I received at Pacific Sleep Disorders Center. The doctor was caring, patient, and thorough. He did two tests, since the at home test caused concerns. The staff was friendly, caring, and patient, too. My thanks to all! Good work! I can’t wait to get my CPAP machine.

Little did I know how desperately wanting I was for quality sleep until my symptoms urged my doctor to send me for a sleep study. My sleep apnea was severe which meant I had to use a C-pap machine. I had to get used to it and did not like it at first but 6 months into its use I prefer to use it . My quality of sleep has vastly improved; symptoms have disappeared… and I feel like a new person. I would recommend Pacific Sleep Disorders Clinic in Stockton, California all day long!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Pacific Sleep Disorders Center

What does Pacific Sleep Disorders Center do?

Pacific Sleep Disorders Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Stockton, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Pacific Sleep Disorders Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Pacific Sleep Disorders Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Pacific Sleep Disorders Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Pacific Sleep Disorders Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
