Five stars for the medical team, but working with the front desk team has made things unnecessarily difficult. Apparently there's only ONE person on staff who can manage scheduling appointments, but there are usually at least THREE people behind the counter when we visit. So if you call the office and hit option one on the menu (for appointments), just know you're going to get redirected... but will more likely be told they'll call back. And this is AFTER being told you'll be contacted, but days go by with nothing. It's happened more than once and it's caused delays in treatment, which just compounds stress and frustration. The doctors and nurses are great, and if you need a follow-up your best bet is to schedule through them. They either need to distribute tasks at the front desk differen

My daughter had an allergic reaction to peanut back in April 2025. We’ve been here a few times for skin testing and the provider felt comfortable doing a food challenge. The visit was a long one but they did everything possible to make sure she was safe, happy, and also were very understanding of mamas nerves and explained every risk and what to expect. My daughter did great and is now no longer allergic to peanut. She did develop some eczema the next day so I called the triage line to ask about a delayed reaction, and they were very reassuring and kind. They are the only pediatric allergist in Charlotte so they are scheduling pretty far out but let me tell you, they are worth the wait!

Have loved this practice since we first started taking our son years ago. They’ve made it easy for him, know who he is when he checks in and has made his allergies better over the years.

I scheduled an appointment for my son with this allergist two months in advance because he’s been dealing with food sensitivities and random rashes that come and go. A week before the appointment, I was told the doctor decided to go on vacation and that we’d need to reschedule. The next available appointment isn’t until late July or August. It’s extremely frustrating and honestly feels like a complete disregard for our time and my child’s health. If our appointment was planned months in advance, it should not have been canceled just because the doctor chose to take time off last minute. As someone who also works with kids, this is unacceptable. It makes me question whether they truly care about their patients at all. Prioritizing a vacation over a child’s health after such a long wait is

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel

What does Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel do?

Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel is a sleep medicine clinic in Charlotte, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Novant Health Pediatric Allergy & Immunology - Carmel?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
