Had an issue with the machine and left a voicemail. I was forced to deal with the issue solo. No one ever got back to me! I was told the machine was durable. Nope. It lit up like Christmas if I tried to sleep on my side, which is my usual position. John called and tried to dismiss my concerns, when those concerns could've been easily addressed by the company calling back after my first night's struggles with their device. Also, you apparently need to pay $55 if you want both nights in your sleep study report, which is bonkers and was not told to me before the test. John blamed that lack of information on my doctor, instead of him... the person who spoke to me on the phone initially about this sleep test. I spoke to my doctor who was surprised and didn't realize this initially. I do not r

I have the same complaint as the previous customer. The experience with the equipment was fine, however I take issue with how rigid and unreasonable, not to mention rude and unprofessional, this company, in particular John Knotts, is. The day I received the equipment was accompanied by multiple life issues for which I had zero control and wasn’t able to begin the testing when required. On the evening of the day I was expected to return the equipment (Saturday at 9:45p) I sent an email explaining that I was not able to return the equipment on time (that morning) and that I would complete the test Saturday and Sunday evening, returning the equipment promptly on Monday, which I did. I also called Monday morning and left a voicemail message to let them know. I received an email reply shortly t

I give 5 stars to ease of use and 2 stars for customer service. This John guy is not the politest person out there. I'll take ownership of being late with the equipment, but there's not much wiggle room for returning the equipment on time. The site allows you to choose the ship date, but life happens and not everything is punctual. John's reasoning for me returning the equipment on time was that the company was losing money/revenue. Customer service 101 is not lecturing customers that their business is losing money as the primary concern; it shows lack of care for the customer. If you're concerned about losing money, it should be built into your business model.

Great experience with Somnos and John! Very respectful and communicative. Direct with his boundaries, understandably so. Would definitely recommend Somnos! :)

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Somno Services, LLC
What does Somno Services, LLC do?
Somno Services, LLC is a sleep medicine clinic in Charlotte, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Somno Services, LLC?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Somno Services, LLC directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Somno Services, LLC?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Somno Services, LLC?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
