We recently visited Texas Children’s Hospital in the Austin/Cedar Park area for our baby’s checkup, and the experience was truly wonderful from start to finish. The hospital itself is brand new, spotless, and thoughtfully designed with families in mind. Everything feels modern, welcoming, and calm, which really helps ease any nervousness that comes with bringing in a little one. What stood out the most was the staff. Every person we interacted with—from check-in to the nurses and providers—greeted us with warm smiles and genuine kindness. They were patient, attentive, and made sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. As new parents, that level of care and reassurance means a lot. The checkup process was smooth and well organized, with minimal waiting time. The staff took time to e

In March 2026 our child was seen at the ER at Texas Children’s, and then she was admitted to the hospital with an infection. We ended up staying a few days until they determined the right antibiotic as the bacteria was not a common one. For a girl who has never been to the ER or had a blood draw, it was quite the experience to have an IV for a few days and be in the hospital! She is 100% fine now, but I wanted to share a little about our experience. Every single person we encountered at Texas Children’s was unbelievably amazing. Seriously. Dr. Bruzoni (the head of surgery) and Dr. Wong explained everything being done for our girl cheerfully, calmly, and reassuringly. Dr. Nicholson (head of infectious diseases) was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, and she was absolutely tenacious i

My child had to endure unimaginable pain at this hospital, and it should never have happened. He was brought to this ER with a broken femur (after later finding out that Georgetown EMS falsely stated that Dell North doesn’t treat trauma). We were told the procedure would be done there in the ER with proper sedation to manage his pain. Instead, he was admitted and moved to a regular room on a different floor, where his leg was reset 5+ hours after admission without adequate pain control. Watching my child scream in pain during a procedure that should have been properly managed is something no parent should ever have to go through. This was not just a communication breakdown—it was a serious failure in care, judgment, and basic compassion. A child was left to suffer unnecessarily due to po

We were looking for a new children’s hospital and we brought my granddaughter for a ER visit. From the moment we walked in everyone was extremely amazing. The compassion and how they made my granddaughter feel comfortable. I am extremely grateful for the ER staff and could not thank them enough how extremely caring they all are!

We had a very positive experience at Texas Children's Hospital North Austin Campus. Our 2-year-old daughter was taken to the ER with pneumonia and pleural effusion caused by RSV. She received prompt and appropriate emergency care, and we are especially grateful to Dr. Bruzoni for performing a successful thoracoscopic surgery. She stayed in the PICU and pediatric unit for 11 days. Throughout the entire process, the care team consistently addressed both our daughter’s medical needs and our concerns as parents with professionalism, clarity, and compassion. We truly appreciate the dedication and support from the entire team during such a stressful time. Thank you for taking such good care of our daughter.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about North Austin Texas Children's Hospital

What does North Austin Texas Children's Hospital do?

North Austin Texas Children's Hospital is a sleep medicine clinic in Austin, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at North Austin Texas Children's Hospital?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact North Austin Texas Children's Hospital directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at North Austin Texas Children's Hospital?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at North Austin Texas Children's Hospital?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
