While the provider I saw was friendly, my first and only appointment felt very rushed. My overall experience with this practice was disappointing due to poor communication and extremely poor customer service. It took approximately two months to receive my CPAP supplies after my visit, where I was simply re-establishing care. I was not starting treatment for the first time and only needed continuation of my existing therapy and replacement supplies. Despite this, the order was submitted incorrectly to the DME supplier, resulting in some of the supplies being sent in the wrong size. When I attempted to have the issue corrected, I experienced repeated phone tag and eventually stopped receiving return calls altogether. Additionally, my interactions with Holly at the front desk felt unprofess

I’m quite content with the doctors, and the service they offer. They listen carefully for the most part. But sometimes I even question their ability to listen to everything you need to ask? Overall I would give them a 9.5 out 10.

Everything about this place is pretty good, but trying to get a hold of them whether to schedule an appointment or just get written proof of your diagnosis is like pulling teeth. I have never had them actually answer the phone and leaving a message has a 25% chance they actually get back to you.

I have been going there for a few years. For the last 4 months I have been trying to get my sleep apnea supplies through their automated system. Each time I answer all the questions and never get the supplies. I called the office about 3 weeks ago and ask for them to call me. They finally called this week. Today I went for. my appointment and i was early. I checked in with one person in the waiting room. I waited 40 minutes with multiple people leaving and everyone who came in after me already being seen. I ask the front desk staff and they disappeared. I was called back. I ask the assistant why the 44 minute wait? She said, well I got tied up and I guess the other staff did not get you back. What! They just didnt take me back. After not getting my needed supplies despite orde

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep
What does Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep do?
Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep is a sleep medicine clinic in Hickory, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Lake Norman Pulmonary & Sleep?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
