This is always the worst experience ever. I couldn’t imagine coming in here with an open wound every room I’ve ever been in is dirty. I couldn’t imagine the sepsis and or bacterial infections. I would get coming in this hospital with just a simple open wound. There’s no way they pay anyone to clean the rooms in the emergency room if they do they need to get their money back: It’s absolutely pitiful people that donate time from community service. Make sure to wipe things down better or sweep better than the people that you have on staff and it’s pitiful. The pillow that my wife was supposed to lay her head on has visible stains on the sheet… is that from the leaks in the building or from mismanagement on washing materials. I can’t say that the lack of care makes any sense. I don’t care if t

Despite some of the negative reviews, I believe some of the positive goes overlooked so I am here to say…I brought my son into the ER, and I honestly can’t say enough about the care we received. Our nurse was Dawan (I hope I spelled his name correctly), and he was absolutely exceptional. From the moment he began caring for us, his bedside manner, kindness, patience, and professionalism stood out. Even with the long wait to see a doctor, Dawan checked on us regularly and made sure we never felt forgotten. My son can sometimes be a little difficult in medical settings, but Dawan was incredible with him. He kept him comfortable and entertained with his great sense of humor, while still making sure he received excellent care. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure we unde

I came here to have my youngest son. Ended up having a C-section. The Dr's from a womans view and the nurses here was amazing. Very kind and helpful. They had no problem when I threw up on the floor, they were so understanding. They kept up with my blood pressure and sugar and done everything to bring them up when they dropped. The anesthesia guy was very kind too and kept checking on me during my C-section procedure. Dr Broadway done an amazing job with my surgery. The Dr who was helping me when I tried pushing for 3 hours, was so kind and patient, i think her name was heather. The nurses had no problem helping me walk and cleaning me up. Very clean hospital. The Dr's and nurses took my pain and feelings so seriously. I won't go in details but it was a rough delivery and recovery (no faul

I was sent to the ER by my primary physician and my orthopedic surgeon due to a temperature and swelling in my face after having a spinal procedure there 4 days prior. Infection being their major concern. After sitting in a wheelchair for three and a half hours because there were no other seats available, watching numerous ill individuals leave after stating they had waited from 4 to 6 hours and had not been seen by a doctor. I decided to leave myself. I had no pain when I arrived at the ER, but experienced a great deal of pain in my back from sitting in that wheelchair for so long. I feel my situation having just had surgery and experiencing fever and swelling I feel warranted priority over criminals being brought in in handcuffs and taken straight back to see a doctor. brought my son in due to a high fever of 103°F, diarrhea, and clear signs of dehydration. As a parent, this was very concerning and warranted proper medical attention. After being placed in a room, we were left waiting without anyone coming in to ask about his symptoms or gather a full history. No testing was done, and I felt that the seriousness of his condition was not acknowledged. What stood out most was the interaction with the nurse. She was rude, came across as sarcastic, and doctor told me it was my “job” as a mom to make sure my child was drinking fluids. While I understand hydration is important, the way this was communicated felt dismissive and unprofessional—especially given the situation. Overall, the level of care we received was very disappointing. I came in looking for help

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Catawba Valley Medical Center
What does Catawba Valley Medical Center do?
Catawba Valley Medical Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Hickory, NC that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Catawba Valley Medical Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
