Making the appointment was different because they startes using an AI voice named Luna to answer incoming calls. Luna can get a little sassy. I wanted to make an appointment with Amy, but couldn't because all appointments are made with the doctor. Then they assign a nurse practitioner when you arrive. For consistency it would be nice to see the same person. I arrived on time and I waited about 10 minutes then was called and taken in a room to check vital signs. As in the past visits, there isn't a blood pressure cup that is comfortable and the regular ones causes pain as it inflates. Each time I have been there I ask for a larger blood pressure cup but they never have one. This visit was for a cpap follow up and I saw a different NP. She asked a few questions and we were finished q

Dr. Nebor is attentive and takes the time to listen and ask questions to get as much information as possible. Thorough. Very personable. Kristin has been extremely helpful too. I feel like this is the beginning of finally getting some of these health issues under control. I highly recommend Dr. Nebor.

Absolutely awful place. They use an AI receptionist to take all your info to set up a new patient file and set up an appointment and then never call you to confirm whether the appointment is real or not. I needed to make an appointment for my 13 year old daughter and supplied her information to the AI receptionist. After going through that, I received the new patient paperwork via text confirmation and filled it out immediately. I believed I had an appointment but didn’t hear back at all about the paperwork or the appointment that was made. So, I called the office to ensure we had an appointment and still had to talk to an AI receptionist. Finally, I get sent to a real receptionist but had to sit on hold and was forced to leave a voicemail. Someone called me back but hung up as soon as I p

I had my first visit with Dr Nebor today. I was impressed with his promptness to see me, his gathering of information so I got some answers today. He was patient with answering my many questions in a very comprehensive way, he listened and made sure he had answered all my questions. His office staff was friendly, courteous and treated me like we already knew each other! I highly recommend them all.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Fivestar Pulmonary Associates
What does Fivestar Pulmonary Associates do?
Fivestar Pulmonary Associates is a sleep medicine clinic in Allen, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Fivestar Pulmonary Associates?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Fivestar Pulmonary Associates directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Fivestar Pulmonary Associates?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Fivestar Pulmonary Associates?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
