I’ve stayed overnight at this King Street facility a few times for an initial diagnostic and follow-up, and I am so glad to see that their superb service, kindness, and professionalism remain consistent across every single visit. The facility itself is exceptionally clean, but the staff truly makes the difference. I especially want to highlight Nurse Ruth—she was absolutely outstanding. When I got confused by some of the directions, she went above and beyond to explain the entire procedure in both English and Spanish to ensure I felt comfortable. Incredible care!

Any virtual or out-of-office work with them has been a masterclass in how to provide horrible customer service. It takes weeks to get a return call. For virtual appointments, they overwhelm you with text, email, and phone reminders and twice the virtual platform hasn't worked properly to start the meeting. The "nurses" or whomever does the intake and test results are a waste of time. They charged me just to review a form I had already completed and then couldn't explain the next steps. When I had a question about the sleep test results, she was clueless. It's been 3 weeks of waiting for a follow up. The receptionist/nurse at the King Street location provided great details for my take home study equipment.

Your customer service has been consistently unprofessional. This assessment is not based on a single incident but on a series of interactions that fall far below the standards expected of a medical facility. First, during the initial phone call from your office, I was expected to drop everything and speak with a provider on the spot. My time is valuable as well. It is unreasonable to assume patients are always available at your convenience. That was my first red flag, and unfortunately, the unprofessional conduct only continued from there. Next, I asked a simple, legitimate medical question before my appointment—specifically, which sleep aid I should take. What I received in response were contradictory, incoherent fragments that looked like they were written by a four-year-old. When I as

The actual sleep study and the frequency of supplies sent are all fine. They auto-schedule 15 min telehealth follow-up visits, which for me is OK as it usually works out fine with my work schedule, but I can see for a lot of people that would be very annoying as they get no say in the initial scheduling of the appointment and it might conflict. They would then need to take the extra step of calling to change it, which brings me to the below. My main gripe and the reason for this low rating is the administrative side of this clinic, which has the most incompetent folks (or just hires people who don't care...) I've ever met when interacting with a clinic. I've been with CSC for a few years now, and I dread having to call them with any changes (like to insurance, an address, etc) or even for

I was super nervous for my first sleep study, I absolutely hate sleeping somewhere new and unfamiliar BUT it went very smoothly! The bed was insanely soft and comfy. The room was cool and it even had a fan on the bed side table! They even provided a TV with YouTube so I was able to watch a show! The staff were very friendly and made the process easy. I had a very pleasant experience, thank you!!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC
What does Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC do?
Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC is a sleep medicine clinic in Alexandria, VA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Commonwealth Sleep Center, LLC?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
