Twice now, my son has been dismissed when he needs literal urgent care. The 1st time (back when the intercom system was BROKEN on one side of the gigantic waiting room), I never heard his name called to come up to a desk. I did get a call from an 816 number from a place in MO I never heard of. Eventually, I saw people going up who'd arrived after us and I went to the front desk lady. She was SO RUDE and REFUSED to allow my son to be seen. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said a supervisor signed off. Enraged, I left and took him to the CM Urgent Care in Independence (he was suddenly refusing to walk, screaming if you touched his leg, he was barely 1 years old). I did end up speaking to a supervisor and he said that she lied, and never had to authorization to turn my child away from

The best Children’s Urgent Care in the Northland! Both of my kids have been coming here for several years and the staff always takes care of them! My daughter had really bad road burn and our nurses were so gentle with her and made sure that she was clean, and felt better before we left. My daughter asked to go there, because she said they are very nice and caring for her, A child’s opinion speaks the loudest as to how great this location is.

On the morning of 2/1 I called the priority care pediatrics nurse line because my daughter was in extreme pain from constipation and hadn’t had a bowel movement for 4 days. The nurse gave me a call back and said I needed to take her the children’s mercy urgent care or ER as soon as possible because they were very concerned for her. I don’t have an issue checking in, going through triage, or answering questions for the first nurses I let them know she hasn’t pooped and when she tries she’s in extreme pain and I had a video of the screaming fit and clenching and trembling of her body when she tries. They seemed concerned they put down all the info and let me know the doctor will be in shortly, perfect. They go ahead and order an X-ray to see just how constipated she is so I get her undressed

When patients need an Urgent Care they look online to locate an Urgent Care near them that is open. When they drive to that location they need to be seen and the law requires you to see all children that arrive during hours of operation. If, when we search Google, for example, and see your location and it says "open", this means that you are "open". This does NOT mean that you are accepting patients "by appointment only" otherwise we would have seen, "by appointment only" where we are seeing "open". In this situation you are legally obligated to treat the patient. They drove there with an urgent healthcare situation and it is not helpful to asthmatic children to turn them around to walk back to a vehicle and drive to another Urgent Care. When you turn patients away when Google says you're

Visiting from Iowa on a camping trip. Our kiddo (2y.o) ended up with a barbed fish hook in her leg. Staff from reception to triage to nursing to provider were all great. They showed concern, patience, and urgency for the situation. Thank you all!

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

What does Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland do?
Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland is a sleep medicine clinic in Kansas City, MO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Children's Mercy Kansas City Northland?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
