Disclaimer: I am still waiting on my results and follow-up visit, which could end up swaying my rating. But I wanted to leave 5 stars for this location in particular. I was originally scheduled to have a diagnostic sleep study done at their Naperville location. They contacted me the day of my test and said the Naperville location had to close unexpectedly that night, but immediately offered to move my test to either Orland Park and Glenview. Great customer service and communication in that regard. When I arrived I was greeted promptly and warmly, and after filling out some paperwork I was shown to my room. It's not exactly the Ritz-Carlton but it was comfortable enough. As this was a diagnostic study, I was hooked up to quite a few electrodes, but the tech who did this, "KB," was extreme

As doctors they are fine. However, if you ever have an issue after hours, they do not respond. Although they tell you that a cpap is a medical necessity, they don't act like it matters after hours. Here are some examples. Last fall I was admitted to the hospital on a Friday evening. The Hospital doctor never heard back from the center for sleep medicine. As I was discharged over the weekend, I don't know if they received a call on Monday or not. In terms of supplies, they want you to use their supplier (I think they have some financial arrangement with them). That supplier (AHS) is horrible!! You can only order through email and they don't respond. When I tried to go to a different supplier, the Center for Sleep Medicine did not respond to the requests for a doctors prescription.

I used to go to Center for sleep medicine @ Glenview location for my sleep apnea. I used CPAP machine earlier and now I’m using dental device. Recently they gave me a sleep test @ home and I did it. They gave me an appointment for yesterday to consult the doctor, when I went there they told me the appointment was canceled. No one informed me about it and I drove from work for an hour to reach there. Someone who cancelled my appointment was so irresponsible and they should not work for patient care.

HEALTHCARE EXEC says stay way! Just check the Yelp reviews.....As someone who works in healthcare, and who has been a Director at a health system, I understand the industry well, and unfortunately could sense the condescension and frustration I received from the Sleep Medicine Center providers. The care has been solid, but the service I've received has been AWFUL (by the way, there is LOTS of internal turnover- should be a red flag). My assigned provider left earlier this summer, and trying to get my prescriptions filled was a struggle in the aftermath. I called politely to seek additional assistance in refilling medication that my body had become dependent on for staying awake, and was met with absolute rude and condescension, as I was hung up on twice, which is very professional. I cannot recommend Dr. Harvey Patel at The Center for Sleep Medicine highly enough. For a long time, I struggled with sleep apnea and the constant fatigue that comes with it, but Dr. Patel has been a total game-changer for my health. From my first appointment, he was incredibly supportive and took the time to explain the science behind my condition in a way that actually made sense. What I appreciate most is his holistic approach—beyond just managing the apnea, he provided clear, actionable recommendations for weight loss and lifestyle changes that have made a world of difference. It’s rare to find a specialist who is as knowledgeable as he is empathetic. If you are looking for someone who truly cares about your long-term wellness, Dr. Patel is the one to see.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Center for Sleep Medicine

What does The Center for Sleep Medicine do?

The Center for Sleep Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Glenview, IL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Center for Sleep Medicine?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Center for Sleep Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at The Center for Sleep Medicine?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at The Center for Sleep Medicine?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
