My experience with Sleep Therapy Research Center was very frustrating. It took about four months from my first appointment to the sleep study and then finally seeing the doctor for my results. When I did see him, he was great — very knowledgeable — so I have no complaints about him at all. The issue was everything else. It’s extremely hard to get a hold of someone at the front desk. You leave messages and nobody calls back, which made the whole process stressful. I had looked into Huebner Sleep Center, and they were much faster (I've used them before), but they didn’t take one of my insurances. The only reason I went with Sleep Therapy Research Center was because they accepted both of my insurance plans. If insurance wasn’t a factor, I would definitely choose Huebner Sleep Center, every ti

This place is basically a scam. Spent a week calling them trying to get a consultation with no one answering the phone. Finally got a consultation scheduled, only to pay $70 to go over paper work i filled out online, and was told I would get a call back about scheduling to pick up home sleep kit. This is weeks ago, tried calling throughout the week, finally got a hold of an unfriendly person who then transferred me to a voice mail. 😂 save yourself a headache, time and $ lost and go elsewhere.

First of all they did not text me the information about my appointment and paperwork to fill out until the morning of my appointment. My appointment was at 11:30 I got there at 11:38 they asked did I finish the paperwork I told them I was working on it since they just sent it to me last minute they said ok go ahead and finish then they come back 5 mins later to ask me if I can come in at 1:15 because they need to go to lunch when I told them no I have to be at work at 2 they said well we gonna need u to reschedule. No ma'am why would u schedule someone right before u go to lunch and most offices would see there patients then go to lunch even if it was late it's there fault for sending me the paperwork last min. They was rude I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Therapy & Research Center
What does Sleep Therapy & Research Center do?
Sleep Therapy & Research Center is a sleep medicine clinic in San Antonio, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Therapy & Research Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Therapy & Research Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Therapy & Research Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Therapy & Research Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
