My brother and I had a great experience with Dr. Pedro. My brother has special needs (IDD), and Dr. Pedro was very knowledgeable and explained everything in clear, simple terms. I appreciated his honest, straightforward approach. What truly stood out was his deep understanding of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He recognized my brother’s limitations, recommended appropriate tests, and tailored care specifically to his abilities—something we’ve struggled to find with other specialists. I highly recommend Dr. Pedro, especially for families caring for non-verbal or special needs children and adults.

I’ve been trying to see up and appointment and every number I call no answer it just keeps ringing. Anyone have the right phone number? I got referred here and no one answers the phone. I’ve been trying to get in touch for months already. It just go straight to an answering service and when I talked to them this lady was very rude and got irritated that I called. Lots of huffing and sighs

My first visit at this location. The staff the doctor has working for him, are very nice. I was satisfied with the doctor and his care. He was thorough, explained things to understand. This office is acceptable. They are clean, nice inside and lots of space, I am satisfied, I can understand why he is a busy physician. He's great! I gave it a 4-star because of the outside of their location. Blessings to all. Thank you all.

Arrived early to crowded wait room. I overheard another patient remark, “can I schedule my next appointment for a less busy day” to which the clerk replied “there isn’t any day that is less busy”. I was scheduled for an appointment at 3:15 p.m. and waited for an hour, only to be never called back (not even to take my vitals). Therefore, I left and won’t be returning. What is the purpose of scheduling an appointment? I plan to find a different physician/office that values their clients time and I would encourage any prospective patients to consider before becoming a patient.

This has to be one of the worst doctor office I've ever had to deal with. Staff here is lazy and not willing to help patients. If i could leave a worse rating I definitely would. Get your staff together

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Alamo Lung Institute
What does Alamo Lung Institute do?
Alamo Lung Institute is a sleep medicine clinic in San Antonio, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Alamo Lung Institute?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Alamo Lung Institute directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Alamo Lung Institute?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Alamo Lung Institute?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
