I've had such a great experience with Sleep Better Sarasota. Dr. Cannon is a caring and highly knowledgeable physician, and he provided me with a customized dental appliance that is so comfortable; it's so much better than the many CPAP masks I've tried that didn't work for me, making the use of a CPAP machine intolerable. The dental appliance is easy to clean, and traveling with it is so much easier than my CPAP. In the office, Daovone is such a helpful and positive person and made my visits pleasant, too. My experience with them has been awesome!

I have been pleasantly surprised by the dental device. I was very worried it would be uncomfortable but it's really not. Dr. Cannon & Daovone have been so easy to work with. The office is clean and they run on time. Dr. Cannon took the time to speak to me over the phone about the entire process to help me understand how it works, cost and if I would be a good candidate before I even came in for an evaluation. I highly recommend Dr.Cannon to help you!

For all of you struggling with a cpap machine. Listen up. This dentist can change your struggling nights sleep. Ditch the mask and hose-noise. Go see this dentist and get fitted for an oral appliance. Total game changer. I bought the cpap machine and hated trying to sleep with it. True testimonial, I snored so loud that my wife began sleeping in our spare room. This oral appliance has changed all of that. Wife back in the bed and I’m sleeping quietly. If you want a happy wife -happy life. Make an appointment here and throw that noisy cpap machine in the trash. I was reluctant on anyone being able to make me sleep quietly, however I’m a true happy sleeping customer. My energy level has doubled and I feel great. So done with feeling tired all day from lack of a real nights sleep. He is w

I met Dr. Cannon and told him that I was diagnosed with sleep apnea but I’m unable to tolerate the CPAP. He explained how detrimental sleep apnea is to so many aspects of my life and I decided to try the dental device. He did all the necessary tests, and I received my sleep device recently. It has already changed my life. The sleep device is so comfortable and does not affect my ability to fall or stay asleep. I only wish I had done it sooner!

This deceptive dentist won’t post his prices because he’s afraid that people might find out he’s charging $3100 for a mouthguard that he doesn’t warrantee and may or may not work. I saw one of his ads on social media and just simply asked him if he would Share the price range for his product. He responded by saying that he didn’t feel comfortable posting pricing and he would rather have a person come in and waste their time so that he can sell them on a product that may or may not work. I kept asking about pricing because again I didn’t want to waste his time nor mine and on social media, he challenged me to post my pricing for landscaping work in Sarasota. I sure showed him up by responding on his social media all of my pricing, I don’t have any problem whatsoever being upfront about my p

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Better Sarasota
What does Sleep Better Sarasota do?
Sleep Better Sarasota is a sleep medicine clinic in Sarasota, FL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Better Sarasota?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Better Sarasota directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Better Sarasota?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Better Sarasota?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
