Tomorrow will be my third visit to the Danney dental clinic. I am actually looking forward to going---something I never imagined myself saying about any visit to a dental office! Granted I'm having an appliance fitted for sleep apnea, not going for a root canal. However, if that was the case, this is the dental office I'd go to. The office is clean and calm, the staff is extremely friendly and kind, and Dr. Danney is great. He takes his time to explain things in detail, never rushes you, and answers all your questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic.

I have suffered from sleep apnea/chronic snoring for several years and had tried all sorts of supposed remedies. They were either too cumbersome or simply didn't provide any relief. My wife is a very light sleeper and her sleep was constantly being interrupted by my snoring. Desperately looking for a solution, I contacted Dr. Danney at Sleep Apnea San Diego about his treatment for sleep apnea through a dental device. Quite simply, the device has been amazing! It fits very comfortably and from day one I have slept silently through the night. My wife can't believe the transformation! Thank you, Dr. Danney!

It was really my wife that had the appointment with the dentist however I was with her all the time. We are both in our 80s with three children. So I can assure you that we have been to many dentists. All but one have always been very good. All I can say is in reference to this particular dentist. We were both super impressed with every part of the operation. We both super recommend this dental group. Everybody is super friendly. The doctor explained everything clearly and with a lot of patience. What more can I say?

Dr. Danny is a gem. He was patient, kind, empathic. He explained things clearly, showed a video for better understanding of sleep APNEA and he answered all the questions I had. I chose Dr. Danny because of his bio on Sleep APNEA, he is well involved in the SA community of providers for treatment options. Having him as my dentist I already know he and his staff are skilled professionals. I highly recommend him and this office.

I highly recommend Sleep Apnea San Diego for sleep apnea patients. Having lived in two major metropolitan areas previous to moving to San Diego. I have learned that not all such facilities are equal in their capacity to do this work. Put another way, just because a dentist is licensed to provide sleep apnea care doesn't meant that you want to work with them. Dr. Danny and his staff however are highly competent, they have state of the art equipment that actually makes the design process quite comfortable, and a variety of oral appliances that can fit your unique needs. Highly recommend.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Apnea San Diego
What does Sleep Apnea San Diego do?
Sleep Apnea San Diego is a sleep medicine clinic in San Diego, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Apnea San Diego?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Apnea San Diego directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Apnea San Diego?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Apnea San Diego?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
