I had an excellent experience with this sleep medicine office. The staff who I had spoken to was friendly, and Dr. Patel was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to understand my sleep concerns. He thoroughly answered all of my questions. The billing process was straightforward and easy to manage online. I would highly recommend this practice and Dr. Patel to anyone looking for help with sleep issues.

The doctor and front office staff are friendly and professional, and my appointments themselves were fine. Unfortunately, the billing experience has been extremely frustrating. This office does not appear to have a dedicated billing department; the provider submits her own claims and there have been repeated issues with insurance claim submissions. One claim from an October appointment was not submitted until January, missing the insurance filing deadline. Other claims were sent to the wrong insurance company or submitted with incorrect CPT codes. The most frustrating part is that patients are left to do the legwork of calling their insurance company to find out why claims were denied and to help identify the billing errors. While the clinical care was satisfactory, the billing process h

Avoid this place, they're under new management or just like taking your money. Last year, I was referred to their office by my dentist to schedule an initial consultation. After speaking with the person over the phone, we couldn't figure a good time to schedule an in person, so I wasn't initially interested. Within the next three days, I got about 10 or so manic calls and texts asking me if I could drive to the office in the afternoon, or whether I'd make appointments I never scheduled, with the mild threat of being charged 50$ for not showing up to appointments I never made. Eventually, I just decided to call their office to stop calling me, and during this call, they asked me if I wanted to schedule a 30 minute appointment that day over Zoom. I really shouldn't have said yes, since we

I have been with Dr. Chen for a few years now and the quality service I receive from his office is top notch second to none impressive. Chen himself is the kind of professional you want taking care of your every need when it comes to your sleep. As long as he is in business, I will always see him. Thoughtfully kind and perfectly skilled in what he does to help you. His office is very accommodating when you need it and they never push you to something you don’t need or want. Your comfort seems to be their top priority. Thank you Dr. Chen for the great service and time you commit to me for my needs.

Dr. Chen very actively listened to my ENTIRE insomnia history, dating back to 1998. I have been on several sleep meds for years, and am becoming concerned about their long-term effect on me. He asked several cogent questions along the way, and when I was done he gave me advice I had never been given before. I've waited about three weeks since my appointment with him to post this review, just because I hoped the extra time would help me evaluate the effectiveness of his advice. I am very pleased to say that what Dr. Chen advised me to do is working very well so far, and that I have no reason to believe it won't continue to work. I am so happy I found Dr. Chen! If you have been too many sleep meds for a long period of time, make an appointment with Dr. Chen; he may very well be able to he

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep and Health Medicine
What does Sleep and Health Medicine do?
Sleep and Health Medicine is a sleep medicine clinic in Bellevue, WA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep and Health Medicine?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep and Health Medicine directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep and Health Medicine?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep and Health Medicine?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
