Dr Jennings is a wonderful Dr and his assistant Elizabeth is so kind and helpful. It’s a pleasure going to this office. I was referred to this office after trying the awful cpap twice. Dr Jennings took impressions of my teeth and sent them to his lab. It took about 3 wks to get them back. Elizabeth called me to come in as soon as they arrived to be fitted with the new oral appliance. . It’s not big and bulky like some I’ve seen and instantly made a difference in my sleep apnea the first night. My sleep apnea app showed instant results from 45 episodes to 0. I’m not waking up with headaches anymore and sleeping longer at night. I’ve checked my oxygen level while sleeping at night and it’s so much better. I cannot believe how easy this helped or maybe even stopped the sleep apnea. He w

I am so happy to have been referred to North Star Sleep Solutions for help with my sleep apnea. Dr Jennings runs this small practice, and as a previously practicing dentist, brings his expertise to finding a personal solution that is specific to the patient. I find him to be detail driven and careful in his work ethic. I never feel rushed when meeting with him, and he is a careful listener. In these days of large medical practices, where one feels like little more than a number, it is refreshing to find a place where I feel validated as a patient. Sleep apnea seems to be a problem that plagues many people these days, and with all the recent research on how important quality sleep is to physical, mental, and emotional health, I feel very lucky to be under the care of Dr Jennings. I am so grateful to have been referred to North Star Sleep Solutions. My apnea was not resolved with the machine. I am using Panthera with the bands. My apisodes were 28.7 an hour. With the mouth guard I went to 3.7 and now 1.0. A huge change in how I feel daily now. Besides the change - thank you to Dr. Jennings and the office admin Elizabeth for making me very comfortable and a pleasure to be in there care.

I'm so happy I was referred to Northstar Sleep Solutions! A C-pap machine was not going to be comfortable or convenient for me. My oral appliance is a great alternative that works! It's like a retainer with fins on it to keep my lower jaw slightly forward. It's comfortable. I can still talk with it in, but with a lisp. My sleep has improved. I wake up actually feeling refreshed! Elizabeth, Dr Jennings, Iza, the whole team is very professional and friendly. They found a way to get my insurance to cover everything. Highly recommend.

I have been seeing improvement in my deep sleep and my mental acuity after only 2 weeks of using my oral appliance. I would recommend this route. After failing with a CPAP because of my claustrophobia, I wanted another option and I believe I have found it. Dr. Jennings has been wonderful in explaining the entire procedure from the start.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about North Star Sleep Solutions

What does North Star Sleep Solutions do?

North Star Sleep Solutions is a sleep medicine clinic in Mesa, AZ that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at North Star Sleep Solutions?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact North Star Sleep Solutions directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at North Star Sleep Solutions?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at North Star Sleep Solutions?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
