Don’t go here for sleep studies. I did an at home one and they charged my insurance $4000, leaving me with a $1500 deductible? And for what?? I picked up the device myself, administered it myself…? Why is this charged as a HOSPITAL fee?? 0 transparency on this whatsoever.

Staff has a horrible attitude. They were talking all night during my study outside my room and it kept me awake. Then the next day during my day study they said they’d cancel my study if I doze off. Knowing that I wasn’t gonna be able to keep myself awake all day because they kept me up all night, I decided to not do the study and then they tried to say then my night time one might not count and insurance won’t pay for it because they made it a “2-night” study and I only did 1. They took off all the wires which irritated my skin and bruised my scalp, and then they wanted to put new ones on. Lady was rude, had no empathy and needs to lose her job.

I’ve not had my appointment here yet but I’m scheduled. I had a bi pap titration followed by an mslt and chose mercy for logistical reasons. It was so bad. They didn’t even do the test ordered. I have no idea what they thought they were up to but that’s a review on them- the purpose of this is to ask anyone that has experience witg this facility, Monroeville, is 1) was the room comfortable? Was it noisy? What is the bed like? What is the room like? And 2) Any smokers? Do they let you have a cigarette break? Lol

I have been on the phone continuously for one hour and 34 minutes listening to a message, which states I should stay on the line for a sleep study representative to pick up. Needles to say that never has happened. I need to talk to someone!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE 9/15 because of the incompetence of the technician that is supposed to read and decipher my results, I still don't have my CPAP machine. The sleep study itself was just fine. My reason for the 1 star is because it's been 3 weeks and I still don't have my results.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center
What does Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center do?
Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Monroeville, PA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Monroeville Sleep Medicine Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
