The part I waited longest for was an appointment with NP Sarah Pack. She is extraordinary and compassionate. Within a week and a half, the Sleep Center set up appointments for my husband and myself on the same night. 3 hours after we left the facility, I received my written report. Our experience at Lovelace Westside Sleep Center was really good. The tech people were attentive, compassionate, consummate professionals and worked really hard. If I needed to go to the restroom, all I did was speak my tech's name and she was there in a flash to unhook me and rehook me. No uncomfortable waiting. Wow. This was the first time I've done a sleep study and I am so glad that I am finally getting answers. The rooms were a little cold and the beds were not as comfortable as the ones we have at home.

rying to get a sleep study consult with the doctor went great, she heard everything that was going she even prescribed new medication. However, I need a pre-authorization, and I am still waiting on that. Now I'm trying to find out what the cost of the sleep study would be and all I get is a run around. They don't have the price I need to go through insurance. Insurance says I need to get information from the hospital. Why is it so hard to get to say this is what it costs if your insurance will not cover this is what you will need to pay. Why so secretive about cost?

My initial consultation was rescheduled 3 times, but I was finally able to see a provider. I had my sleep study performed a few weeks later, the staff was great during the procedure. Now it has been over a month since the sleep study and I have tried calling just about every day to schedule a follow up to get my results with no luck at contacting anyone. I have left several voicemails that have not been returned and I am unsure what to do to get my results.

My experience here was awesome. It was worth waiting a number of months to get in. The staff didn't judge me or give me a hard time for being part of a methadone program. They were kind and courteous. The lady who ran my study was gentle when applying the wires. She patiently explained each one. The whole place was super clean. I will also add that the room was fat friendly. Even the chairs were big enough for all body types. This place also seems transgender friendly. No one was rude to me about my beard even though all I provided was my birth name. I am grateful for the help. Thanks again.

I went to a sleep doctor in April of 2022 and was referred to Lovelace Sleep clinic. He said they would call me between 2 and 4 weeks. After a couple months of not receiving any phone calls, I began to call them repeatedly. No one ever answered so I left many, many voice-mails. Six months later, in October of 2022 I received a call from an employee of the clinic. She stated there was some sort of problem with insurance, but not my insurance. She promised to call back one week later explaining what she meant and what I needed to do. Five months later and with many messages left with them, I have still not received a call back. Now going on a year with only 1 call made to me with someone who was ridiculously confused and unable to communicate, but promising a call back that never happene

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Lovelace Sleep Center
What does Lovelace Sleep Center do?
Lovelace Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Albuquerque, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Lovelace Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Lovelace Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Lovelace Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Lovelace Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
