First let me say I've never had an issue with anyone at Kaweah no matter what facility. I did have an appointment, and I had to stop the process because of my claustrophobia. I called to reschedule, and the woman who answers the phone, I guess because it was going into her lunch time said she was going to transfer me to her supervisor but hung up on me. I called back and got the voicemail.. I left a message and as usual with this woman no call back.. Even several months ago when I tried to call to make an appointment this woman does not call back. And she barely answers the phone. Other than her the people at this facility are wonderful. They absolutely are understanding and the woman who worked with me she really tried! The facilities wonderful The woman who answers the phone is awful and

My mother in law went to an appointment and they were so kind and knowledgeable about the procedure she was going to do. Nickoli was so kind and walked me through the area where she was going to sleep. He was so nice and funny he made the place feel comfortable and safe for not only my mother in law but for me as well. The room was perfect it felt like a staycation in a hotel but with cameras watching ur every move 😂😂. Big screen tv and comfortable bed and pillows. My mother in law said she slept well, except for a few times she woke up because she could hear the nurses laughing and talking. Other then that she had a nice experience and slept better then most days she said.

I had an enjoyable evening as Geraldine took very good care of me and answered all my questions explaining all the procedures and putting me at ease from the very beginning. The room and bathroom was spotless and the bed and pillows very comfortable. Nothing could have been done better in any way! Thanks again Geraldine I enjoyed our time together! T.W. The product they use for the sleep study is being RECALLED. They have not replaced the machines and they do not tell you over the phone. They send a preliminary packet to your house AND IT DOESN'T SAY THAT. At the center they give you a bunch of papers to sign, don't say anything about the recall and place a release of liability in the packet. It states you can DIE. They need to REPLACE THE FAULTY PRODUCTS NOW. THEY SHOULD NOT BE TAKING PATIENTS. READ ALL THE PAPERS 📃. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Kaweah Health Sleep Center

What does Kaweah Health Sleep Center do?

Kaweah Health Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Visalia, CA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Kaweah Health Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Kaweah Health Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Kaweah Health Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Kaweah Health Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
