I was very disappointed by my experience at the sleep center. The office appears to be extremely unorganized, and the work environment seems very unprofessional. During my visit, I witnessed the manager, Arin (or a similar name), speaking very poorly to employees. At one point, she was arguing with an older employee with white hair who had come from the back office area. Seeing a manager speak to staff in that manner was uncomfortable and inappropriate. Employees should be treated with respect, especially in a healthcare setting where professionalism and teamwork are important. The overall atmosphere in the office felt tense and disorganized, which does not inspire confidence in the management or the workplace environment. I hope leadership takes these concerns seriously and works to im

Heather did my 7 year old daughter’s sleep study. This woman is amazing at her job! She treated my daughter so gently and found ways to make the experience actually fun for her. Doing a sleep study is very challenging, especially for a child. She had to be hooked up to an obscenely amount of wires, but Heather made it so that my daughter felt comfortable. The location is beautiful, clean, and well clapped. The front desk is friendly. Highly recommend.

Avoid. The doctors and staff were nice enough but they rip off on costs. Sleep study was 1k yet it was only a remote device you wore. After that they tried to sell me a $500 cpap for $3800. I get that medical and insurance is a special kind of racket but this was over the top. Places like this are why insurance is so over priced. Find one of the online sites that will sell a machine without test. Then you can get an $1800 machine for $1200 instead of $500 machine for $3800. Unless you have great insurance to where it doesn't matter. For me it was too expensive and I will not go back.

Overall dissatisfied with their service. They charge way more than they loosely quote you. I was told it would be “few hundred bucks”. In reality it cost way over $2000 even after billing insurance. I felt I was mis diagnosed and sold a cpap that was not needed.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Fairbanks Sleep Center
What does Fairbanks Sleep Center do?
Fairbanks Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Fairbanks, AK that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Fairbanks Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Fairbanks Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Fairbanks Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Fairbanks Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
