The actual technicians in the office doing the sleep study and the front desk are absolutely wonderful and so kind. But for some reason, it took this office over four months to get my son the necessary paperwork to even begin to get his CPAP machine. It took countless calls from my nurse case manager and me to try and get to the bottom of a problem they couldn't and wouldn't figure out, and I will never recommend this clinic to anyone. And the actual doctor is never even in the office to see anyone, even if you need their signature on your paperwork to get your CPAP machine. I ended up having to have my son's main care provider provide her signature to get anything going. I wouldn't have even written this review had they not texted me asking me to vote for them for best sleep study clinic

That was one of the worst medical experiences and staff I have encountered. Warnung to parent taking your kid for a sleep study, they will expect you to sleep there but only provide you with a horrendous cot, you have to sleep in the room with your kid, so if you can’t sleep (due to the horrendous cot) you can do anything else including use your phone. The staff member in general was incredibly rude on the phone and in person. I would recommend using the other sleep clinic in town. For being in a field of hospitality and kindness, they sure do lack it.

Incredibly unprofessional and incompetent. When I got there, after filling out paperwork, I waited for over an hour without any communication from anyone. I finally walked out of the room they put me in and told the receptionist. She acted surprised and said she would call the doctor. There is only 1 doctor and he is in Texas. I then waited another 30min for the doctor to finally join the zoom call. He was incredibly rude, did not let me get a word in edgewise, and tells me the solution is to just sleep 14+hrs per day. Then he starts telling me I needed to change my medications and get a certain type of sleep study. In the middle of the Dr talking, the Zoom meeting expires and turns off because they were using a free Zoom account to conduct appointments! I walk back to the receptionist an

The lady at the front desk is so sweet, kind and attentive. She remembered me after only one appointment.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Alaska Sleep Clinic
What does Alaska Sleep Clinic do?
Alaska Sleep Clinic is a sleep medicine clinic in Fairbanks, AK that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Alaska Sleep Clinic?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Alaska Sleep Clinic directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Alaska Sleep Clinic?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Alaska Sleep Clinic?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
