I recently had my third sleep study in approximately 10 years at Exeter Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center, and the follow-up was extremely disappointing. The study ran from approximately 11:00 PM to 5:30 AM. During the study, I believed I was awake for significant periods and made approximately 15–20 contemporaneous notes on my phone documenting the times I looked at my watch and knew I was awake. At the follow-up, I was initially told I had slept for the entire 6½-hour study and was later told I had awakened only twice. I questioned how that could be possible given my contemporaneous notes, but I never received a satisfactory explanation. Instead, when I asked specific questions about the study results, the discussion quickly shifted to my mild sleep apnea and recommending CPAP. Technical

Feels like everyone that works there is mad at you for choosing their services and asking for basic assistance. Their commitment to incompetence is very impressive but where they really shine is innaccounatability and terrible patient care at every step. If they could only get the employees in their billing department medical degrees, imagine the possibilities. Billing dept goes above & beyond to make sure you are extremely aware of even the smallest balance even if no one else in the practice will respond to your health concerns, questions or even appointments that disappear(3x) on their end as you are stairing at the text reminder they sent so lovingly, numerous times. But hey, that’s your problem right! Decided the risk of dying in my sleep is a better option.

I am 99 percent on the cpap. They cannot get my prescription right. It has been almost a week. Several calls to the clinic and the pharmacy. Time consuming. And frustrating. More difficult since the merger

I was given a new prescription for my PAP supplies along with (I was told) a mask fitting. The provider received the script but a mask fitting was not included in the order. That was in April. Several calls were made and the last person I spoke to assured me that it would be taken care of, another month gone by (now mid June), nothing. The supply provider has been calling me stating that they also have been trying to contact the Center with no success.

No one answers phones and when you walk in because no one calls back the chick that sits to the left side of the window looks like she wants to say ewww people. They will NOT listen to patients even when harm is being done to them. They will forget you are a patient and if your sleep study says your at high risk no worried they will get back to you in 2 months so don't die or you will have to reschedule. They don't care if you have a CDL is that is how you make a living. Waited 3 weeks for the report. Nothing than they got mad because my husband was running out of time to get this done. So yeah he said bad words they tried tried to get him to loose his job. Found out from out DOT examiner that they have been doing this to all the cdl patients at the sleep center and it's been going on week

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita

What does Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita do?

Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita is a sleep medicine clinic in Exeter, NH that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Center for Sleep Disorders at Exeter Hospita?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
