IMPORTANT: If you have chemical sensitivities or other indoor air quality sensitivities, see the very last paragraph. (cleanliness tag) Review: My experience was fine, but I came very prepared bc that's what I do (see list below). (Note, I have no prior sleep study to compare my experience against.) The young man who was assigned as my technician (sorry, I forgot your name, but you're the guy with the deeply meaningful memorial tattoo with stars) made the process psychologically very comfortable and not awkward at all. Just the right level of talking, self-disclosure, listening, and compassion for which I am greatly appreciative. Here is a list of how I prepared to ensure that I got okay sleep and not too many pains: (1) the bed - You might be able to ask for a different type of bed si

Having used another provider in the Houston area for 5 years, I found this business so poorly run to the point it is borderline useless. Simply a money grab. They have a nice facility, and the technicians are courteous and well trained. But you never see a doctor and any readjustments to the operation of the CPAP machine requires you to schedule an appointment with your primary care physician who then requests another "titration" i.e. facility visit and/or overnight stay. These CPAP machines are equipped with a sophisticated digital air flow control system and they continuously record all data and transmit everything by cellular to a central database. This level of readjustment could be handled by adequate initial programing, or at worst, data review and programming adjustment remotely. To

I was referred to this facility by my primary care physician, but unfortunately, it was a mistake as my insurance provider was not part of their network, and Michelle, the referral coordinator, did not inform me of this crucial detail. Furthermore, the office staff treated my wife rudely when she attempted to assist with obtaining authorization. As a result, I will not be scheduling a second sleep study and will not refer anyone to this facility. We have since found an alternative company that provided a seamless experience, explaining the entire process and securing authorization promptly. I highly recommend the Sleep Rite Center.

Last week I had my first sleep study done. The technician Alma was very professional. She explained everything that she was doing while connecting the equipment and how the procedure will progress. Alma's care and respect for her patience is priority. I returned the next week for testing on a CPAP and I requested Alma as the technician for the procedure. Her bedside manners are relaxing and professional. The staff is excellent and the rooms are quite and comfortable.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC
What does Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC do?
Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC is a sleep medicine clinic in Corpus Christi, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Bay Area Sleep Evaluation Center, LLC?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
