I went to Allergy Specialists for 3 years with no issues until I had a major allergic event in March. Inflammation persisted for weeks afterward, and Dr. Kodoth diagnosed it as environmental allergies and anxiety. She called my psychiatrist and then administered xolair without giving me the informed consent document until after the injection. I started to feel like I was choking and called the office to report my symptoms. Dr. Kodoth said, “this is anxiety, but go to the ER if it will make you feel better.” I couldn’t breathe, talk, or swallow and needed epinephrine. I have a very active side job and missed an entire season of work as the breathing problems persisted for 6 weeks after the injection. My VO2 max tanked from 50 down to 45. Besides all this, I was prescribed EpiPens but there

Treatments wise: good. But aweful administrative. I was called for a follow up appointment (I did NOT schedule it by myself, they asked for it). When I showed up, doc/nurse was confused why am I even there, as no need for any follow up. I cleared up that I had called the day earlier, inquiring about this appointment, why do I even need it etc. The entire conversation was 2 mins, basically that I don’t need to have this appointment. But I was STILL charged for it. Bizarre.

This place was amazing! The nurse and Dr. were very good at explaining things to me as we were doing them and why. What stood out the most was how accepting they were of my 2.5yr old son in the office! AMAZING environment for children. Highly recommend!

★★★★★
Wonderful nurse and physician. Very patient and understanding of special needs children. I wish I could give 5 stars, but the front desk has absolutely no manners. Any question I have ever had to ask the front desk staff has been a complete nuisance. Very hasty and short tempered. Will literally huff and puff at you. It is a shame and paints a bad picture for the practice.

I’ve been getting allergy shots for 2 years now and feel much better. Hope to continue that even further each year. The Dr. and staff are very friendly and nice and best of all they get you in and out very quickly. So if you’re looking for some allergy help you need to come get these shots they don’t hurt! Highly recommend.

Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Frequently asked questions about Allergy Specialists of Knoxville
What does Allergy Specialists of Knoxville do?
Allergy Specialists of Knoxville is a sleep medicine clinic in Knoxville, TN that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Allergy Specialists of Knoxville?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Allergy Specialists of Knoxville directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Allergy Specialists of Knoxville?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Allergy Specialists of Knoxville?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
