I recently faced a long-standing infection in one of my wisdom teeth that had caused me issues for years. Many doctors hesitated to treat it due to complications I had, but I was referred to the clinic as an emergency case. From the moment I arrived, the staff and Dr. Dilolli addressed my needs promptly and professionally. Dr. Dilolli not only performed the surgery expertly but also took the time to alleviate my concerns, easing my anxiety about dental visits. I was genuinely impressed by the level of patient care I received, especially considering my past negative experiences that had made me wary of dentists. The entire team, from the warm welcome at the front desk to the dental hygienists, dental assistants, and of course, Dr. Dilolli, exemplifies professionalism. I will definitely retu

Sonia is steadily becoming a well established professional in dentistry. I have been a patient of hers and her predecessor (Dr. Katz) since 2009. She has performed cleanings, bone grafts, root canals, extractions and now braces. Dr. Dilolli and her team are confident and experienced. Communication is good as they send you your choice of text messages/email to remind you of your appointments in addition to filling out the health forms and scheduling appointments online. The office is well maintained and clean (although if she keeps up this modicum of success she will need a bigger facility). If you are looking for a dentist who will actually listen to you, offer you choices and not dictate, then I invite you to make an appointment and judge for yourself. Micheal B.

My dentist of 20 years had retired and my sister recommended I see her dentist, Dr. Dilolli. My visit was today. I can’t speak highly enough about the practice as a whole. The front desk could not have been more accommodating and flexible in scheduling my initial visit. After receiving a comprehensive consult and a fantastic teeth cleaning from Dr. Dilolli, I left her office feeling fully confident that I found the perfect dentist for my family. The office is well run. The staff is personable and supportive. The dentist has a wonderful sense of humor and was able to put me at ease during the exam.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Virginia Dentistry by Design
What does Virginia Dentistry by Design do?
Virginia Dentistry by Design is a sleep medicine clinic in Herndon, VA that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Virginia Dentistry by Design?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Virginia Dentistry by Design directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Virginia Dentistry by Design?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Virginia Dentistry by Design?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
