0 Stars. Do NOT waste time trying to get healthcare needs met here. They are inept, under-staffed (no doubt by corporate design) and never follow through. I have been waiting for over a month for results from a simple over-night pulse-ox test. This is nothing more than a reading of oxygen levels. I have called them several times. Today, one person gave me the number of the company that supplied the testing and I called them and was informed the results were faxed to the provider a week ago. I called RR Step Center again and am told that the faxes for the past week haven't even been looked at. She tells me they are short staffed. Not my problem. If their corporate offices can't find front office staff, then they should see less patients. It's better to be on a long wait to see other provid

Not concerned about the patient. This is IT!!! They have cancelled my last two appointments: the most recent one was for today and they called at 8 AM. I saw them first in January, 2026 because my CPAP was about to die. Because of their lack of staffing, lack of concern and general inepitude, I got my new CPAP in May, 2026. During my first visit in January, I had a broken leg. I couldn't drive and was waiting for my ride. The front desk person wanted to leave so I was kicked out in the cold with no where to sit. Try to go elsewhere for you apnea needs.

Their front page says that they do telehealth and in New Mexico that is vital considering how many people live ruraly. However, upon trying to make an appointment with them, they said that they have not done telehealth since covid. Apparently they don't bother to update their front page and if people are that unprofessional I wouldn't expect to trust them with my health and life.

Wish I could give zero stars!!! Do yourself a favor, listen to the negative reviews and absolutely avoid this place. I came back early from a work trip to make my appointment only to show up and no one was there. I called their number and the lady that answered said “oh they were supposed to call you, they didn’t?” I told her they called to confirm but nothing more. I said I think I will look for care elsewhere and she replied with “ok, I will make a note in your chart”.

Awful! Straight up malpractice happening here. Cant get them to keep their appointments and they always cancel last minute. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They are ran out of El Paso actually. Extremely disappointed. I have spent hundreds of dollars here and just need a follow up to get my results but they are now dodging my calls and not wanting to get back to me to reschedule the appointment. Unprofessonal, awful place.

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about The Rio Rancho Sleep Center
What does The Rio Rancho Sleep Center do?
The Rio Rancho Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Rio Rancho, NM that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at The Rio Rancho Sleep Center?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact The Rio Rancho Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at The Rio Rancho Sleep Center?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at The Rio Rancho Sleep Center?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
