I saw Dr. Khan; and from my direct experience with him...he seemed fine. Was knowledgeable, but definitely felt a bit rushed in/rushed out with the experience. My overall experience post visit is what made me move to another Pulmonologist. My appointment was March 2024. Saw the doc, and they lined me up with a nightmare CPAP provider. When I called them a few months later to ask if they have a different provider, as the one they referred me too was horrible with communication/refills...I was told by the front desk receptionist that that was the provider they used. Fast forward a year and 3 months later...June of 2025...I get a bill from them for $140 left over from what they say insurance didn't cover a year and 3 months prior...seriously?! 1.25 years later. I have been a patient for well over a decade and always have had great service and dr follow-up which is important nowadays. the complex they are located in from the outside looks like a standard office building but the interior is really nice and after my last appointment while waiting for my ride, I actually sat and enjoyed the ambiance throughout the complex. This dr office has so many testing capabilities in one location that I am always confident if something needs to be addressed that they have the expertise and the equipment to figure out what is going on. They also are patient and explain course of treatment and when you aren't feeling good having a personal experience helps them stand out amongst other offices that can treat you like a number or $. I would give negative stars if I could. Absolutely horrid experience. Dr. Khan was TERRIBLE. Rude. One of the worst doctors I’ve had the displeasure of seeing. But that’s not even what this review is about. They never sent over the medical documents to my insurance. Insurance denied the claim because they never sent over the proper documents. I was then charged (unrightfully) for $600 personally by Suburban Pulmonary & Sleep Associates. Before I could even dispute the claim, they sent the bill to collections for $924. Unethical. Never called, email, nothing. AND IT WAS THEIR FAULT TO BEGIN WITH. and my insurance confirmed I owe $0. But now my credit can be affected because of their mistake. So my best advice is to STAY AWAY. Find a different practice. I have NEVER dealt with people so te

They just make it much too difficult to be seen. The day I was first scheduled to be seen, I had a flat tire and was running late. I went into the office anyway to reschedule in person, and I was basically told they wouldn’t have even seen me if I had been on time. Undisclosed to me at that point, they require all patients to complete something called a pulmonary function test, even if you’re already diagnosed. They only accept results from within the past year, too. So, at first I wanted to just reschedule with them. How bad can it be, right? They changed the doctor from the one who had been recommended to me because I can’t do the test and the appointment on the same visit unless lightning strikes and her availability is less (or more booked). Okay… Now, I’m scheduled on two separate

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates

What does Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates do?

Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates is a sleep medicine clinic in Westmont, IL that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Suburban Pulmonary and Sleep Associates?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
