Went in for a blood transfusion, not a good experience. The nurse and her helper forgot something every single time they can in the room which is about every 15 minutes. Never had a pen to record with them, didn’t bring the tubing with the blood which took about 30 minutes for them to find. I was there longer than ever before just to get one unit (4 hours) and that’s how long I’m normally there for 2 units. The when the nurse was removing my port hook up she hurt me like never bet and once again forgot to bring the bandage material for my port with her and had to call for help. Cara which normally gives me blood was out this day and it was REALLY noticed!

If I could give these guys a 0 I would. I have been injured many times in my life from extreme sports and just being an injury prone person. This is by far the WORST hospital I have ever been to. The staff with only 1 or 2 exception was completely useless bordering on dangerously unsafe. I came in with a concussion and possible fractures in my leg and cuts that were actively bleeding out of my hand. I didn't get seen by anyone for 2 hours. I could have easly drifted off into a coma and no one would have even noticed. My friend who was in the accident with me and severely dislocated his collarbone and arm and had major swelling on his head didn't get seen for over 3 hours. Then they didn't even acknowledge his head, didn't take him out of the sling that was made from a rifle sling in an e

Poor lack of organization, hospital should not be holding events that are not well organized, this speaks alot about your hospital if you create an event that people drive to attend to support then you should be willing to create a more positive and organized event. This shows me the lack of organization the hospital would be like within it self

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Stephens Memorial Hospital

What does Stephens Memorial Hospital do?

Stephens Memorial Hospital is a sleep medicine clinic in Breckenridge, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Stephens Memorial Hospital?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Stephens Memorial Hospital directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Stephens Memorial Hospital?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Stephens Memorial Hospital?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
