We came in at 7:30pm. Dad wanted Mom to go into the ER with him; I sit in the waiting. 2 ½ hours later, I am still waiting. The registar has checked on me several times as well as offering me water. I truly appreciate her actions.

The experience I've dealt with at this hospital was in the E.R. night shift. And it was awful. My 82 year old grandfather went in by ambulance around 2:00am . The head nurse at that time was a male nurse with a man bun, dont know his name. He treated my grandfather terribly . He had already been sick for 2 weeks, came in by ambulance , was given IV fluids and nebulizer treatment then kicked out withong an hour and a half. Literally, the nurse told him he cannot be there and kicked him out, no ride, no phone calls, told him they wouldn't call a cab because there wasn't one that would pick him up anyway at that time. Sent him out into the cold ,very sick. His wife happened to call to check in as they were kicking him out , they wouldn't even tell her exactly where to come get him . She was

Shout out to the emergency room staff on Saturday! And to the fellow at the front desk. I was advocating for a fella living on the streets, debilitating parkinson's, needs help eating and dressing, who had gone hypothermia, 911 got him into the emergency room. They didn't shut me down, they let me help advocate. I wasn't going to let him sleep on the streets if he was discharged. He would not have made it through the night. They were great. Looks like a local relative change their mind and might take him in. Well done emergency room. Disciple James

We have lived in the Cortez/Dolores area for 20 years. This hospital has had it's ups and downs, mostly insurance billing issues. Those issues have mostly been resolved. Over these years we have our PCP there, used the ER , PT dept. and many other ailments. However, the staff and I mean everyone who works there is dedicated to doing a respectful and professional job. My recent hip replacement by Dr. Brandon Jones is no exception. My PCP Dr. Kameo Smith referred me to Dr Jones and that was an excellent call. All the of Doctors, Nurses, and Clinical/Support Staff are exceptional. Every Department I have dealt with was well run, concerned about my health and professionally pleasant. To pick out out one individual over the others is both difficult and unfair. Good job, guys keep up th

Let me tell yall about the birth of my child. 9n June 26th my wife who was 37 weeks pregnant complained to her doctor about discharge and not feeling right. The doctor took a test and everything was fine. Until 12 hours later she had a placental abruption. My child and wife almost died. To make matters worse there is no NICU for the community, they got rid of it. My daughter was flown to grand junction. We couldn't see her till 4 days after her birth. This hospital doesn't care about you. They do not have the facilities. I had a surgery from this hospital after my daughters birth and im still felling pain 2 years later. This is the type of hospital they make documentaries about. Stay away, go to durango, its better than a 5 hour drive to grand junction to see your loved ones. The people th

What to expect at a sleep study appointment

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Southwest Health System Sleep Center

What does Southwest Health System Sleep Center do?

Southwest Health System Sleep Center is a sleep medicine clinic in Cortez, CO that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Southwest Health System Sleep Center?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Southwest Health System Sleep Center directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Southwest Health System Sleep Center?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Southwest Health System Sleep Center?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
