My ex-husband and I took our tween sons in for a consult appointment. Our youngest son has ADHD and frequently rocks while he is sitting. He struggles to get to sleep, sometimes rocking and banging his head against a pillow. He was diagnosed with a sleep disorder as a toddler, one related to his ADHD. His pediatrician recommended an updated sleep study since he had been experiencing increased fatigue. The doctor at the clinic asked us if our son was developmentally delayed. Demanded that he sit upright in his chair and cease stimming for five minutes. He told him, "I won't let you leave the room until you stop moving and tell me that it makes you feel better." He told my ex-husband and I that our son shouldn't act this way because "he's not a baby anymore." We tried to explain that he has

After not being able to find a sleep study appointment in my area in the time frame needed, I was recommended to this location. I called and was scheduled for my consultation within a week. The doctors and staff have all been very professional and have taken the time to explain things clearly. The care they have shown during my last 2 appointments has made the nearly 2 hr drive each way worth it!

You're better off just buying a smart watch. All they did was give me a old ring to monitor blood oxygen. It will be cheaper too, because they say they want to do the 2 day at home study for insurance, but then insurance will cover only $100, and they'll send you a bill for $300. They've been running this scam for a while seeing other reviews. Saying the results are inconclusive. My doctor was able to see they already diagnosed it, so they were just lying to me. Also they will not call you about results after a sleep study they want you to drive all the way there pay your deposit and bill your insurance just to tell you.

I am a 65 yr. old, disabled woman without a vehicle. I was scheduled for an overnight sleep study. I was told that I would be leaving between 5:00-6:00 a.m. the next morning. I asked if I could leave at 6:00 because I couldn't get a ride until then. I was told that I would not be able to leave at that time, but I could walk around the area looking for a place to sit until I could get a ride. This clinic is not in a safe area. I've never heard anything so cold-hearted and unfeeling in my life! I will NEVER do business with, or recommend thus clinic to anyone! Shame on the woman who even suggested such an outrageous thing!

Went in twice and got the finger ring to take home for an at home sleep study. It came back inconclusive, so they wanted me to come back for an overnight study. When I got the bills in the mail, they didn't bother to tell me my insurance didn't cover any of it, so I had to reluctantly pay them. Of course at that point I canceled my overnight study with them for obvious reasons. Then, two months after paying all my bills with them, they sent me a new bill. I called and they said that unfortunately they only "billed my insurance" for one night of the at home test and not for two. So now three months after my at home test (that was inconclusive), they wanted me to pay them even more, because they didn't do their job and bill it out correctly

What to expect at a sleep study appointment
For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.
Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab
What does Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab do?
Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab is a sleep medicine clinic in Bay City, MI that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.
Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab?
Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.
How much does a sleep study cost at Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab?
Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.
Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?
Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.
How long does it take to get sleep study results?
Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.
Can I do the sleep study at home?
Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.
What should I bring to my appointment at Sound Asleep Sleep Diagnostic Lab?
Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
