I should have read the reviews on this site prior to going to see Dr Ghuge. At first everything was great. I went there to get a oral appliance and that is what I received however, they did not bill my insurance for the two sleep studies nor the oral appliance. I broke the bottom piece within 3 months. Dr Ghuge stated they would do 1 free replacement and told me he had never had anyone break one that fast. He wanted me to buy an extra set incase it happened again. He did prescribe me something to relax my jaw however, I could not get him to call in a refill and when he did he called it in for the wrong RX. If someone is going to have to take medicine for the rest of their life why do you only give them a 30 day supply at a time. I received the new lower oral appliance and broke it

Dr. Ghuge is knowledgeable and likes to teach, which I appreciate. He took the time to explain what he saw and what options were available with no pressure. He was upbeat and compassionate, not dismissive or in a rush. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The visit did take longer than I anticipated but overall I had a great experience.

Everybody in the office was very professional, and the doctor took his time explaining everything to me. I had some concerns going in, but they were all alleviated by the time I was done with my visit. Highly recommend this practice and Dr. Gughe

I’d like to start off with this is one of my first times to ever leave a review that’s how bad this experience has been. They Immediately tried to sell me their patented mouth piece as soon as they came into the room that’s so much better than the one I already have. I told them I already have one and it’s not doing any good I want a sleep study. They still pushed the mouth piece on me because his was “better”. Told them I want a sleep study that’s why I’m here, they were suppose to contact my insurance and get it all set up. After a month or so never heard anything, followed up with them they were going to contact me back and it’s been months and still nothing. I wish I would have read reviews before I wasted my time coming here.

For an in-lab study, you arrive in the evening and sleep in a private room while sensors record breathing, oxygen, heart rhythm and body movement. For a home sleep test, the clinic gives you a portable kit you use in your own bed. Neither test is painful. Results are usually compiled into a physician report within one to two weeks, and the clinic then discusses whether treatment — such as CPAP therapy or an oral appliance — is needed.

Preparation basics: avoid caffeine in the afternoon, skip lotions and hair products, bring comfortable sleepwear, and take your regular medications unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Frequently asked questions about Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA

What does Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA do?

Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA is a sleep medicine clinic in Tyler, TX that evaluates and treats sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy. Evaluation usually involves a sleep study, and treatment may include CPAP therapy, an oral appliance, or behavioral therapy depending on the diagnosis.

Do I need a referral to book a sleep study at Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA?

Many insurance plans require a referral or prior authorization before covering a sleep study. Requirements vary by insurer and by clinic, so contact Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA directly using the phone number on this page and ask what your plan needs.

How much does a sleep study cost at Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA?

Sleep study costs vary widely with the type of test, your insurance plan and your deductible. Home sleep tests generally cost less than in-lab studies. Ask the clinic for an itemized estimate and check with your insurer about in-network rates before booking.

Does insurance cover sleep studies and CPAP treatment?

Most US insurers, including Medicare, cover sleep studies and CPAP therapy when they are medically necessary and properly documented. Coverage details — deductibles, co-pays and supply replacement schedules — differ by plan, so verify with your insurer and the clinic.

How long does it take to get sleep study results?

Typically one to two weeks. A sleep physician reviews the recorded data and writes a report, after which the clinic discusses the findings and any recommended treatment with you.

Can I do the sleep study at home?

Possibly. Home sleep apnea tests suit many adults with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no major heart or lung conditions. If your symptoms are complex or the home test is negative despite strong symptoms, an in-lab study is usually the next step. The clinic can determine which option fits you.

What should I bring to my appointment at Sleep Medicine Institute of Texas, PA?

Comfortable sleepwear, your photo ID and insurance card, a list of current medications, and your own pillow if that helps you sleep. Avoid caffeine after midday and skip lotions or hair products, because sensors attach better to clean skin.
